Most things in moderation are not harmful. As long as smoking doesn't effect one's life outside of personal times, then it could be considered okay. Unfortunately, not everyone can keep their professional or academic life separate from their high times, even if they think they do. Still, thoughtlessly smoking pot, as well as blindly condemning it, is not the way to deal with the issue. Pleasure doesn't amount to correctness and law doesn't necessarily represent proper ethics.
If you want to smoke something that is legal and more socially acceptable, I would suggest smoking flavored tobacco (shisha) with a hookah. If you want to continue smoking pot, I would suggest moving to a state where weed has been decriminalized like California.

I have a feeling that you have lost yourself. At the beginning, you've had it going well for you. When you said you don't care but you do, you're snapping out this "funk". Don't worry about it, everyone has a little funk. This should be temporary if you work on getting rid of it. Now about going back to where you were before, you should probably stop what you're doing to make you hate yourself. You hate yourself because you know you're better than what you are now, hold yourself to a higher esteem and act on it.

The thing that makes it wrong is that there is a law that "PROHIBITS" its use or consumption because it pays no tax or dividend to those who do not control it, i.e., the governments of local, state and federal. The laws that control people are designed to enhance the financial betterment of those that write them. Prohibition of alcohol consumption was repealed after and only after the government structure was able to completely monopolize and control the sale and taxation of the substance. They do not care whether it is good for you or not, that is propaganda. It could be more accurately described as "Anything that the public wants, and wants is the key word, will be controlled and taxed by the governments. That way, when the private citizen starts to try and be free again, they will simply take the wants and make them illegal and prosecute until compliance with the laws (or domination) of the ruling class is full filled. Our government will be the first to use things like safety, the best interest of the children, for all concerned, or any other euphamism that sounds like they are your benefactor to enforce financial compliance to their greedy hypocracy and capitalistic goals of their socialism. Care about your welfare, I think not. Best I can figure is that smoking pot is against the profitability of the government. Maybe we should define responsibility with the government and compare definitions. Do you think they would be similar?

Well - there's nothing "wrong" with it (in the moral sense).
But there are damaging aspects to all addictions...
You'll often hear that certain drugs are "all natural" and "non-addictive" and "perfectly legal in other countries" but those are often times, the ramblings of an addict.
I don't dislike pot smokers - I used to be one... but some of us can recognize a sinking ship and others cannot.
I won't judge a person who smokes pot - maybe they can do it successfully whereas I was not able to...

What is wrong is that it is against the law to smoke marijuana which might lead to harder drugs like cocaine. People should be getting their highs from drugs. Drinking is socially acceptable and they is no law against drinking only driving drunk.

In a word, it is ILLEGAL.
You can rationalize all you want and explain to yourself why it is OK, but the fact remains, smoking pot is ILLEGAL according to our current law. Drinking alcohol is LEGAL provided you are of age. The fact that alcohol causes death, and pot (according to some people) is as safe/as dangerous than alcohol is besides the point.
It is illegal.
