A couple of nights ago,a friend of mine was pulled over by our local City Marshall, after leaving my house. When my friend asked WHY he had been stopped,The Officer told him,in no uncertain terms ,that it was because he had just left a "METH HOUSE"(not a SUSPECTED meth house-he stated this as if it were FACT).When my friend informed the officer that he was misinformed and that no activity of this nature was taking place at my home,The Chief went on to say that, not only do I(and he identified me by my FULL-first and last-name)USE and SELL meth,I MANUFACTURE the drug, also!I am 39 yrs. old,and have NO criminal record;I will admit,I am no angel, but,I DO NOT sell, and don't have the slightest idea how to MAKE methamphetamines!I understand that this may be some sort of tactic the police use to try to get information about someone when all they have is speculation, but isn't it unlawful to defame a person's character with NO evidence(as I said, other than speculation)as to it's truthfullness?

Actually yes, it is against the law for any person to make statements like that without proof that the statements are true. If there are witnesses, you may have grounds for a slander suit.

Contact a personal injury lawyer and see what he advises.

Without proof .... NO ! They can suspect, though. Since he didn't suspect , NO. Why would he say it was a "METH HOUSE" ? Did he just move there and the people before him did meth? Is it a rough neighborhood with a lot of that. Since he called you by your first & last name, he either accused you or if he was informed, he was misinformed. You may need as many friends as possible go to the station with you (grown-ups incl.) and tell this marshall that you don't have anything to do with meth or drugs (excepect prescribed meds. from a doctor, if you do). By friends, not just around your age, people iin thier 50's & neighbors. your friends parents, I know it'd be a crowded station, but everyone you can get to go is that much more of a help.
The town marshal here & I are good friends. Wish you had the same there.
Good Luck.

Peoples worst nightmare is the police who are Barney Fifes. When they pull you over do as they ask and take the ticket or what ever with out comment. The arena to fight is in court and you can file charges against those Barneys. If it is a small department file thru the State Police. If Barney can get you to cause trouble on the site the reasons he stopped you are no longer at the top of the list. Be Nice then strike.

I completely understand. What you have to realize, is that, we, the police, find great pleasure in picking some random citizen, learning their full first and last name, then waiting outside their house to pull people over. Don't worry though, the novelty only lasts so long and he'll pick out some other doper, ehem, I mean, random citizen for this special attention. In the mean time, realize that from your statement, it's completely obvious that you do at least use methamphetamines, but you don't manufacture them. I'm very sorry that this officer offended your delicate sensibilities, please, feel free to take your case directly to the supreme court, I'm positive they'll be more than happy to see that you have this officer's badge.

I Point to IMUS..that is slander and He nor anybody else can "profile" you on that basis! They better come with some real Proof, warrants etc...! That is harrassment, I hope you got his name and badge number.

If, a landlord Opens your door while you are out and allows anyone into your domicile for a search, they can also be sued. That includes the opening of a private home for Illegal Search and Seizure of property without a Warrant from a court! That is why the 1st through 5th Amendments Need to be Kept in Tact! Just like they came in Illegally, they can also place thngs in your domicile without you knowing It. Possession is 99% of the Law!

Slander is any untruth that cripples, stops a person from obtaining employment, demeans one's character, Person, personal nature etc...and they can be Held LIABLE for monetary civil liabilities...Get a real good attorney!

Slander is illegal, period. But you are correct in the thought that it could be a tactic to try and get someone to confess. I am concerned, however, that the officer knows your full name. Why would he know that?

You could try filing a lawsuit, but I think in the end you will waste a lot of time, money and effort. More often than not, the "law" stick together, and unless you have it on tape, you don't really have any proof. It will be a case of "he said, she said".

Just suck it up, keep your nose clean so nothing can be proven against you, and please don't waste your money and tax payer money by trying to file such a frivilous lawsuit.

Prove it, and by your own statement you use meth so I guess it's likely that the others are true also since many users manufacture and sell to keep their monkey happy.

Sounds like part of what they tried to do to me, but with cocaine which I never sold. Wisconsin is a one knowledge state which means anyone can record anyone at anytime without their knowledge as long as the one with the recorder is part of the conversation, even on the phone. Now I keep a tape recorder with me or on hand always just in case of contact with law enforcement. Check the laws of your state on taping conversations. A taped conversation will keep the truth in play.

I have not any theory what you recommend with the aid of rock sturdy evidence. What does that even recommend? Surveillance photos? with the aid of the time they overview which you will desire to be long long gone. A suspicion is all they choose.
