My dog and her claws!!!!! I love her to pieces, but when we play with her, she loves to jump on us... heck, when she walks on my bare toes.... those claws are killing me!!!! I have trimmed those bad boys and still they are sharp!!!! I am just like... I know cats can be declawed, but can dogs??? Heck, I don't care if her back ones are removed, but those front ones have got to go! She's suppose to be half golden (looks totally like a golden retriever) and half aussie (austrailian shepherd).

I gave what she is because I wasn't for sure if that was part of being an aussie or a golden. She digs into her toys and busts balls! She's funny, but she doesn't know they are hurting us, unless I yell out "ouch" then she just looks at me and licks me.

No they can't be removed. It is horribly painful even for cats. No vet int good standing will do this. If your dogs claws are still sharp after cutting get a heavy duty nail file and file them down a bit more. It will take the sharpness off the nails.

The only claws that should be removed are the dewclaws (look like little thumbs) That should be done when they are pups or when they are "out" to be spayed.
Declawing a cat consists of removing the entire last joint of the toe. NOT an easy surgery to recover from!
One thing you might try, is to use a dremel either to trim the nails or to take off the razor-sharp edges after they have been clipped in the normal way.

No, Dogs can't be de clawed. Cats are de clawed by surgical removing the first joint of the toe.A dogs nails are usually sharp even and especially after you first clip them. Try walking her on concrete to file them down or by a real rough emery board and file them. They also sell a item called Soft Claws. They are nail caps that are applied with glue. They worked on my cat who was clawing the couch.

Declawing is a cruel, painful process even for cats. I'd hate to think anyone would consider doing such a thing to a dog. Please, don't. If absolutely necessary you can take the dog to the vet and have her nails cut back short and cauterized to stop the bleeding quik. I would suggest being careful, slowly over a period of a few weeks trimming her nails back yourself, a tiny trim a day, and teaching her to play without her paws on you.

I don't think any respectable vet would ever remove a dog's claws. They need their claws to scratch or dig outside to bury bones, etc. That would be inhumane to do that to a dog, just as it is to a cat. How would humans feel if we did something to annoy someone and they could just rip our nails off. If you ever saw how it is done, or knew the pain it caused them, you'd never do it.........if you love your animals. I have a 100# Shepard/Boxer and he steps on my bare feet all the time or jumps up on me and gets me good, but you know that when you get a dog. It is part of them. If God didn't think they needed them, why would he have given them to them? Just be patient and forgiving and enjoy your dog while she is here.

hi .. i dont know if dogs can be declawed but i would never do that to an animal.
a better thing is ..try to understand your dog ..there is a good book on the market ..."carming signals" . If your dog jumps up on you .. turn around and stop playing with him. you dont have to say a word. do it as often he tries to jump. he will learn that you dont like it and he will stop jumping up on you. i have a retriever .. he did the same thing.
he did. it took 2 weeks then he learned that i dont like it.

No, You can not do such a thing. It's cruel and inhumane. There is no vet that would do such a thing. You should either just keep them trimmed or teach your dog to stay down or off of your feet.

No that would be very bad for the dog. Take him to obedience classes and instead learn to interact with your dog more effectively. Please.
