Confession is important. Yes, to a priest. Christ set it up that way.
Book of James 5:15-16 - in verse 15 we see that sins are forgiven by the priests in the sacrament of the sick. This is another example of man's authority to forgive sins on earth. Then in verse 16, James says “Therefore, confess our sins to one another,” in reference to the men referred to in verse 15, the priests of the Church.

Confession is Wednesday and Saturday at our Church. Doing penance means I can receive the Eucharist on Sunday with a clear conscience and a clean heart.
God Love You
God Bless You
Royal Racer, the Priest acts as representative on behalf of God. Christians always confess their sins to God. For it is He who forgives us. The Priest listens the way Jesus would so that we can hear and be assured of the words "You are forgiven. Go and sin no more."

incredibly, the Bible is study every day of the 365 days in lots international extensive. There are 4 (each and every so often basically 3) readings from the Bible in each and each Mass. First interpreting is an previous testomony interpreting, then a Psalm, then a sparkling testomony interpreting (not a Gospel interpreting), and ultimately a Gospel interpreting. The Mass is split into 2 important areas, the Liturgy of the be conscious (whilst the Bible readings are study), and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. in the process the Liturgy of the Eucharist, area of the final Supper is recited by potential of the priest, Matthew 26:26-28. this is, in accordance to Catholic theory, whilst the priest consecrates the bread and wine into the Holy Eucharist. for the duration of a era of three years, the full Bible is study in the Mass. Mass is declared every day in each and every u . s . of the international. there's a three 365 days scriptural cycle (I forgot the call of this cycle, if any). in case you flow to Mass every day for 3 yrs straight away, you would be able to desire to have heard the full Bible, previous testomony and New testomony. Do Catholics study the Bible? in the Mass, definite, every day. In inner maximum, many do. It relies upon on the guy. in the previous Vatican II, Catholics weren't inspired to study the Bible as much as they are right this moment. in recent times, definite, Catholics are very plenty inspired to study the Bible every day. real! i grew to become right into a non secular Catholic from 1987 to 2000. Bible interpreting grew to become into inspired very plenty.

It is refreshing to hear this humble declaration especially when it seems to me that there are few sinners about today, a lot of bad press is given to the Catholic faith but unlike a lot of Protestant denominations who believe that they cannot sin, we do not claim this at all, and recognize our short-comings.
Humility seems to be a thing of the past these days.

I do admit that I am flawed and that I make mistakes and that I am not as good as I should be.
When I have harmed other people I try to apologize and learn from my mistakes and do better next time. Sometimes I am successful at this - sometimes I am not.
I think I prefer taking personal responsibility to your suggestion - but go ahead if it seems right to you.

I don't have to confess my sins to a priest. When I do my confessing, I talk directly with God, that's all I need.

You are not a sinner. God is within you and you are never separate from God. No one need confess anything to a third party. God does not judge; God only teaches. The only renewer and refresher is Nature, which is also God. Blessed be.
