Recycle cardboard and compost fruit/vegetables. Turn heat down in rooms I'm not in. Traded normal bulbs for compact fluorescent bulbs. Drive a hybrid car which gets 53 miles to the gallon, she's a tiny little car but the money she saves on gas is SO nice. Putt around on 4 dollars of gas an hour. I think the car is the best thing my family does, however we do drive a lot and take flights to hawaii and florida so i suppose that makes up for it, hehe.

I looked into getting a more energy efficient fridge because I heard the old ones are energy hogs, but i decided it was wasteful to throw out a perfectly good fridge, even if the new one saved us 60 dollars in electic bills per year.

We used to hang our laundry out to dry instead of using the dryer but the effect was only 2 dollars a week, not substantial enough, about the same environment effect as driving 4 less miles a week in our hybrid.

I have already converted my electricity supply to that of one from a renewable source. Saving 4.46 tonnes of Co2 annually from my household.

You should check your local electricity suppliers website, they may offer this switch for free. The more people that sign up the more pressure that is exerted on this company to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels for production.

I have installed all CFL bulbs throughout my home to reduce my need for any electricity renewable or not, and I am currently installing Cavity Wall Insulation, which should reduce my heating oil consumption by up to 40%, or a reduction of about 2.30 tonnes of Co2 annually from my household.

In the future I plan to install a solar panel to assist in providing hot water.
