I don't want to take Pepto Bismol because I don't want to keep whatever bug/virus I have inside of me. I figure that I have diarrhea for a reason, right? Anyway, the nausea is unbearable, and I was given Phenergan a few weeks ago when I had yet another stomach bug. I have like 20 pills left, and I was wondering if you think it's okay to take (not all 20 pills I mean, just the 50mgs I was prescribed)? I mean, it doesn't do anything but stop the nausea, right? There's no way it could make me feel WORSE or harm me?

Thanks.....

Yes take the phenergren. It was perscribed to your for nausea you can take it for nausea. Sounds like you have the stomache flu. Good for you though for asking about it though.

Taking the Phenergan tablet will be fine, but if your vomiting allot,it may not stay in your belly long enough to work. The idea about not wanting to keep diarrhea virus inside your body is a little odd,the fact of severe dehydration and electrolyte depletion is a worse choice. You can safely take "Imodium" or the generic, its much cheaper, 1 tablet for the diarrhea and repeat as required. Pepto is not a good choice because you have to take so much, and it doesn't work that well. I've just consulted my MERK MANUAL,and nowhere does it say NOT to treat diarrhea. Please see your MD if your not better in 48 hours. Take care. SW RNP

Best to call your Pharmacist or Dr's office and ask them.
