So, you are African American. I am glad that you are proud of it. But, being over weight bears no weight on your race.

Please, do not take offense to what I have said. But, try this. It really does work!

The easiest and natural thing to do is to walk. So, choose a time of day when you are not busy and make that your walking moment. You do not have to power walk, but it must be continuous. That means every single day. No matter if you are on vacation or not. There is always walking to do. Start out going for a walk around your block for a week. Then the second week if you feel comfortable doing that then increase it to two blocks. Do not try to do more until you are comfortable walking two blocks. By the end of one month you will probably be at a comfort level where you can now walk for one hour up and one hour back to your home without getting winded, as long as you leisurely walk.

As I have mentioned before, do not power walk. Just leisurely walk non-stop every day. That includes in the rain and the snow and the heat. The key is to prepare yourself for the walk. If it is raining cats and dogs, don't bother with an umbrella. Get yourself a hooded raincoat and water galoshes. If it is snowing outside then buy a warm coat and scarf and gloves and boots. You might want to get a pair of dainty long johns and thermal socks. If it is hot outside, buy a headband and clothing that flecks the moisture away from your body.

You are not going to die of thirst in an hour at a leisurely pace so forget about the water bottle. Drink your water and empty your bladder before you leave the house, so that you will not be uncomfortable during your walk. Well, there you have it. One hour up and one hour back. No more, no less. Do not stop to pet the dog or smell the roses. Don't even stop to talk to your neighbors. Just smile and say hello and goodbye as you continue on your way. People will by now have noticed you have begun to slim down and will probably want to walk with you. It is alright to let them. But, stipulate to them that they must walk at YOUR PACE and on YOUR CHOSEN PATH! Resist the urge to power walk!

By now you are admiring yourself differently and have made walking a daily routine and it didn't cost you a thing. After you have been doing this for a good six months, it is well within reason that you want to do more for a variety. Well, good for you. Get out that ratty blanket that you keep on your bed and throw it on the floor. Now do get down there and strive to do five situps. Stop! I said 5! Only do 5. There's no race here. You are not in competition. Continue to only do five during the time that you have chosen to do them for one month. The second month if you choose to do so you may increase your situps to ten times each day. Continue to increase your situps ever every month until you reach fifty. Yes, I said 50! I know that you know someone who can do one hundred or more. But, you are not them and you asked for my advice. The reason that I make fifty a cut off point is because you want to make this a lifetime routine coupled with your walks and you don't want to risk hurting yourself or becoming bored.

As you do your walking and situp routines, don't forget to have fun.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

When you decide to lose weight you have to be commited that you will succeed. Cut out all drinks, only water, dont eat 3 hours before you sleep, try to cut you're fried foods out, invest in a mp3 player for biking, Imagine how happy you would feel being 100+lbs lighter, and all the clothes you can purchase whcih you couldnt before, compliments from guys or girls, youre preference, that will BE DOGGING YOU=D, Depression has a big thing to do with obesity, think positive and screw who ever doubts you're ability.I used to weigh 265 lost 130 lbs, almost was anorexic, dont starve you'reself either, dont drink alcohol, 12 pack=12x 100=1200 calories, and thats light beer! Think about it! Sincerely Mike.

Cut your calories to 1200 a day. Be very strict with this part because this part is very important. Do your bike Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Don't just peddle like you're sight seeing. Peddle like you're late for your next class. On Tuesday and Thursday walk 20 minutes around the block or if it's raining up and down stairs. Saturday and Sunday just relax but still stay on 1200 calories a day.

Well you made one step and found yourself a form of excercise. Kudos and don't give up. Make a weekly excercise plan and stick to it! The first few weeks of getting into a plan are hard. See if you can get a friend to join you. That helps.

Next thing you need to do is change your diet (this will help your excercise). Do you drink lots of soda (even diet sodas)? You need to cut sugars out in a bad way. They are empty calories and generate alot of fat. Try to eat recomended portions of foods (A cup of low sugar cerial with the 1/4 cup lowfat milk in the am for example). Drink 2 glasses of water prior to every meal. Be sure you get your recomended intake of water every day. This WILL help.

Low fat foods, more proteins and lower amounts of carbs (breads and pastas) will help. Also eat your fruit, don't drink it. Cutting out juces help as well.

For the next few days monitor your caloric intake. See what your at. If your going over 2000 you need to cut back. If your at 2000, perhaps you can reduce it by 200 a day. Don't drop the calories too much, if you drop too much you will "starv" your system and your body will cling on to every calorie it can get resulting in you gaining fat and not muscle. Good luck and don't give up! I had a friend do this and he lost 20 lbs in 4 months. He was at 235. His goal is to get to 200.

Looking at the answers so far, the advice is good. dont listen to anybody about what type of excercise as long as your getting your heart rate up and it stays up for 10+ minutes the exercise is positive, do what you want to do.

The first message left for you says 1200 calories, I wonder how she came to taht number??? Guessing your height to be between 5-7 to 5-10 and that you are in your early twenties, your BMR would be around 1950 calories, thats what your body burns if you did nothing all day. so cutting to 1200 right away might be hard to do and lead you to get discouraged. as long as your exercising and taking in no more than 1950 you wont gain weight so consider that every day you consume less than 1950 calories your losing

Good luck to you

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

i weighed around that much and I've lost down to 210 so far, doing it slow helps keep it off. do the bike thing thats good and also do a lot of walking. there is a saying eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch and a pauper for supper, drink 8oz. of water a hour before u eat ,this fills u up and after u eat drink hot tea or hot green tea this brakes up all the fat u eat in your stomach and its also good for u. good luck....its easy to gain and hard to lose, but have faith you can do it.

If you're 173cm tall, one hundred ten~a hundred and twenty lbs is thin ample for ladies in Korea. If you may have powerful bone and muscle, a hundred and twenty~a hundred thirty lbs is solely first-rate and might be watching well. Less than one hundred ten lbs with 173cm tall = a skeleton. Remember, you're too younger to lose your weight.

Plan your diet and exercise plan. You'll need to have a plan on what you're going to eat and when. The same with exercise. Then, the hardest part, stick to your plan. An excellent resource is at www.bfl.com They have lots of useful free information. Good luck on your quest, it's worthy of aspiration.
