If you are using the term 'depression' as another word for being down sometimes then in my opinion I think that is normal, especially for that age. Literally, the day I turned 13 I was a depressed mess. Hormones are undergoing some serious changes and I think some 'depressed' feelings are to be expected. They can help you to become introspective of your life and make some decisions as to what direction you want to take with your life.
If you are using the term 'depression' as in 'clinical depression', then I think it is a bad thing. Clinical depression usually lasts over two weeks and can result in dangerous outcomes. I recommend talking to a counselor, parent or an adult that you trust if you think you might be clinically depressed. There are medications and methods of professional counseling that can help you with this.
Just remember that depression is an emotion just like happiness or anger; it won't last forever and it's all part of growing up. I hope this helps some.

No Depression is a real bad thing in all ages. You could really hurt youself when you are depressed and if you really feel that you are you should talk to someone you really trust like to close friend, or a teacher you feel very comfortable with him or her and your parents. Its hard because you get pulled away from your friends and you no longer really want to do the things you love to do as much.

i don't understand how it could be a good thing. it is fairly common however and if you are feeling depressed you can deal with it by talking to a counselor or therapist. even talking to a close friend or family member may help, but if the depression won't go away or if you have thoughts of suicide, you must talk to a therapist right away. the bottom line is, you HAVE to talk to someone in order to deal with it. i hear getting a lot of exercise helps too because it makes you feel good and helps relieve stress.

Deression is never a good thing, no matter how young or old you are. The first step would be to talk to someone: parent, friend, school counselor, etc. Let someone know how you are feeling. It may not be depression, you may just be going through a difficult time. Either way, you still need to tell someone in you life how you are feeling. Please do not keep this to yourself.

Depression is always a bad thing, regardless of how old you are. But, most people can deal with it and/or get over it with help from a doctor or therapist.

Clinical depression is never a good thing for anyone. It also takes a professional to formally diagnose depression. If you are then seek help.

yes, you can deal with it by yourself. it will take alot longer to lessen it that way (and i say lessen, because i believe you cant totally get rid of it). i would suggest talking to your parents to see a counsiler. or if you dont really have a good relationship with your parents, then talk to your school social worker. just ask a teacher if you can talk to one. they will understand and will let you. do not let yourself suffer with depression by yourself, its very hard. i wish the best of luck to you!
