I saw a question asked today which asked how we can stop this church from picketing the funeral of a VA Tech victim. When I read the question, I couldn't believe that a group of "Christians" would do such a thing. I hadn't heard of this church, but thankfully, someone saw my answer & e-mailed me w/details about this church & the Phelps family. I remembered seeing Mrs. Phelps briefly on the Tyra Banks show & recall being appalled at her hateful speech. This woman actually dared to say that the victims of 9/11 deserved to die because of their homosexuality & their denial of God. I checked out their website & discovered just how hateful this group of people is. They promote hatred in the name of Christ & actually defend hate. They use Bible verses to promote their agenda & they claim that Christians who aren't hateful like they are, are not true Christians. Who will check out their website, godhatesfags.com & take a stand against these folks who are hurting others in the name of Christ?

I also wanted to share just a few words from their "Contact Us" page, where a person can e-mail them with questions/comments. The first thing they say is the following:
Please be sure to read the FAQ before you send mail. Also, read our Dear Shirley and Dear Margie sections. Instead of wasting time by asking the same questions that everyone else in the civilized world asks, perhaps it would suit you well to stop being so lazy and read those sections.
A man respectfully asked in a letter to their "Dear Shirley" column if they would reconsider picketing Ryan Clark's funeral, and this so-called Christian, who writes the column, responded hatefully, and called the man a dummy. As a Christian myself, it horrifies me to think these people are out there promoting such anti-Christ hate and hurt in the name of Christ.

I'm sorry. I don't know how to put hyperlinks in my question, but I did list the website. It was hard to see it because my question was so lengthy. Sorry for that. The website is:

Someone said the website doesn't work. It worked for me, but you can also Google: Westboro Baptist Church and it will bring up a link with their name on it and the godhatesfags website next to the name of the link. I hope this helps.

To the one who said I'm hunting down Christians, please understand that I'm not doing that. I'm not promoting hate or hunting down Christians. I'm trying to speak out against that very thing.
Thanks to the guy who gave me instructions on how to post a hyperlink. Here is the website. If it doesn't show up in blue ink, then I guess I'm more computer illiterate than I thought!:

I've looked at their website and immediately felt the need to go take a shower afterwards. Just reading that hate-filled spew is enough to make a person feel like they've fallen in a cesspool and now need to get the filth off of themselves.

The best thing for Christians to do is to pray for them. They are in error and it is causing much harm to innocent people. This is NOT Christianity. Jesus Christ stood for goodness and not hurting people, including sinners. In fact it was the highly religious people who He seemed to get after the most. This is a very sad situation, because they are disgracing the name of Christ. I would like to comment on some of the folks who have said the these Christians are following the Old Testament. It is not the place of people to kill other people. Yes, God brought judgement on wicked people and they died. The difference is God is God and people are people. He is the creator and we don't have the right to do as He. Would you call God evil if He place judgement on these Christians and caused their deaths, or would you say Good.

I speak as a Christian who has recently had several conversations about this topic. We do not agree with WBC for several reasons, summarized in two: 1) Their Message: The Message of WBC is not the same as most Christians profess. Nowhere in the Bible does it say God hates fags, for example. God clearly hates their sin, but loves them just as much as he loves anyone else. 2) Their Style While we must agree with some of WBC's doctrines, we do not have to agree with their style of communicating that message. The Bible is supposed to be Good News, and yet their style of proclaiming the message makes it sound like Bad News.

I am a Christian and have seen these crazies. Yes, they are crazy. God does not "hate fags." God loves everybody. As far as I am concerned, the minute they show up at a Virginia Tech shooting victim's funeral they should immediately be removed, by violent means if possible. It does not sound particulary 'Christian' but I do not like terrible people and would do anything, at whatever cost, to protect myself from them. Shirley Phelps even looks crazy.

No Christians identify or associate with them. They turn my stomach in knots. The best thing to do with them is ignore them, but they make it so hard by being so masterfully inhumane. Still, I think it is our duty to give them free speech, as much as my gut wants them to be the victims of VT gunman instead of innocent students.

God will take care of them in due time as well as all false religion, is it any different than teaching untruths about God though? People preach about God punishing unbelievers and sinners in a fiery hell for all eternity which is not so, how is this really different?

Why not do some charity work at hospitals, instead of 'hunting down' Christians.
Unless you want to teach a course in "Hate"?

Thank you for posting this. I had never heard of these people before.
It would seem to me, just at a glance that these are very hateful people.
They are going to have a very big surprise when they die.

I hear Christians all the time saying that the millions of people that died and were killed by God in the Old Testament deserved it because they were wicked sinners.
How is American any different? What you fail to realize is that the Westboro Christian Church actually believes what the Bible teaches. You mild mannered Christians like to reject the parts you don't agree with.
I challenge you to reject the whole thing. God doesn't exist.
