The flights are all full now with no room. Why do people fold out a news paper to read intruding on the people next to them. Maybe people are just not as concerned about others around them, not just on airplanes but anywhere.

It is definitely rude to intrude on your neighbor's "space" on a plane but you also have to consider that being in the middle of two strangers is the worst. There's not much you can do in the middle seat that doesn't affect your neighbor on one of the two sides sometime during the flight unless you sit like a zombie for the whole trip. Although there are some real ******* out there, I'm sure if you ask the person to adjust themselves they'd apologize and be more than happy to help you be more comfortable also.

As far as other places are concerned, people are generally self-absorbed and I swear just clueless to everyone around them for the most part. You just have to learn to speak up more for yourself and call people out on their rudeness. I realize that is not the easiest thing to do when you are the "nice" person sometimes but it's the only way to get any kind of acknowlegement from those types though (and again, as long as he/she isn't a complete ****** or you are wasting your breath and frustration).

It is very annoying, but it is more part of a culture created by the airlines than about the people.

First. Does the middle seat cost less than other seats? If not, why is it rude for only that person? I actually think the way seats get assigned, there is a higher probability that someone sitting in the middle seat paid MORE for the flight.

Second. Why do they hand out newspapers on the flight?? They should concentrate on pushing Magazines, but the flight attendant tends to start with an armload of papers, passing them out. How can I blame the guy that takes it and reads it?

Yes, I feel that it is rude for someone to read a newspaper on airline flights if they sit in the middle seat. The least the person could do is ask the person next to them if it was OK. Then they should be courteous enough to keep the paper close to themselves.

Being in the middle seat sucks in general, I think we can all agree on that one.

I think it's rude if the person reading the paper intrudes on your seat without asking you first if it's okay.....but not rude for them to read the paper in general.

My opinion is the same of people that hog the armrests or put their luggage in the overhead bin above someone else's seat....

We're all stuck in the same tin can at 40,000 feet........let's at least try and be courteous of each other!

No, it's not rude. There is no rule stating that you have to sit on the end and not to middle in order to read a newspaper. Next time, suggest changing seats with the person if you feel uncomfortable about it.

No, but it would be rude if he turns the page before I am done reading.
