find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I'm not a physchologist, but I can read in the way you phrased your question that you are an intelligent person who knows diet pills aren't going to give you the long term effects you are looking to have. A diet plan means a well balanced diet to suit your metabolism. No one who loses lots of weight real fast will keep it off unless they are starving themselves. The best, tried and true, way of eating I have used, is Weight Watchers. Its not hard at all. You are eating real food that you enjoy eating and losing weight slowly, the way you put it on. They stress drinking lots of water and eating plenty of veggies. You could even have dessert every day and still you are losing! I would stay away from the frozen dinners, even Weight Watchers dinners have lots of sodium and preservatives in them to keep them longer.

LOTS of fruits and veggies, lean red meat (barely), chicken. Work out at least an hour a day. I work out for an hour and forty minutes a day. 60 mins on the treadmill or elliptical (alternate), thirty lifting weights, and ten focusing on abs alone. Works well! I have a "cheat" day too... I only work out for half an hour (soley on the treadmill). And I eat whatever I want (in moderation still) on that day. It helps me stay focused and not like I'm restricting myself too much.

Oh, and like LD Runner said, sparkpeople.com is an amazing tool! I use it and love it!

Good luck! Hope this helps.

eat right, and walk 3 miles an hour for one hour, just before dinner, 3 to 5 times a week. Don't run or work out harder or you will not burn fat.
