My wife has been gone for about 8 months now, and I was wondering if it's to early to start dating. I am ready to get on with my life and don't want to think about the past anymore.

in my own opinion if she left you i think 8 months is more than enough time. Just make sure that part of your life is a closed chapter in your dating life. Dont bring it up on dates or anything we women hate that

If you are ready to move on with your life, and you have said that your wife left you NOT the other way around. Then I say start dating, and if your ex brings it up in the divorce trial (or whatever it is called) then bring it up that she left you NOT the other way around, esp. if she has already started dating herself.
