my hair too can be unruley and annoyingso when i have days where the curls dnt seem to want to do what i want them to do i jus get a handful of curby grips and pin them all up,dnt think about where each curl goes jus pick a couple and grip it to your head towards the back.
It looks cute as its neither up or down and is so so easy!
If you try to make it look perfect it wont,do it care free and it will!!!
You could also get some colourful clip in extentions just to brighten it up and look different day to day!
hope ive gave you soem ideas!

Now, hair is something fun to work with. You can do virtualy anything to it, within reason. Ive done so many things to my hair! Try scanning the internet for new styel ideas, or check out the latest fashion mag. Want to save yourself a trip to the stylists? Pick something simple, but way cool and different. And you dont have to cut your hair. If youre looking for a total shocker of a change, try buying hair dye. Its not that expensive, and if it doesnt work out right, you can wash it out. Most dyes wash out within 10-12 washes.
hope that helps! GooD LuCk!!!

Aside from adding hair accessories, I say you chop it off. How long have you had long hair? Get a bob. It'd be really cute with your curls (depending on how they fall - you probably don't want them to be too poofy). And considering you wear it in a ponytail everyday, it doesn't sound like you want to bother curling or fixing it up everyday, so why not just cut it? Orrr...try side-swept bangs with your current length.

Hey! I have really similar hair to yours, it's curly, thick, and medium length lol. I just got my haircut with short layers and the woman who did it thinned it out a little bit. I love it, it works really well for our type of hair. Try to find someone who has a similar hair type to yours, if someone who has thin hair cuts my hair it doesn't turn out that great because they don't understand how high maitenance our hair can be.

Hair bands are in this season. Plain thin ones are very classic. Or you can use a scarf for a retro '60s look. You can embellish plain ones with hot glue and buttons or beads for a casual or evening look.
You can make your hair into a neat bun. For a plain but finished look, pin down strays w/ hair pins that have tortoise shell on one side. (Goody makes them.)
For a casual look, make a messy bun or chignon.
You can braid your hair & wear the braid down. Or you can loosely braid your hair & create a bun.
Allure & InStyle are really good magazines for hair style ideas.

heres a lot of tips, and you can always straighten it. a few of the tips are ways to control your curls....for instance, tight curls, loose curls, wavy curls, or just plain waves.....and then a few plainer styles.
buy those soft curlers and sleep in them. it is soooo easy and you save so much time in the morning. you just take them out and only brush the top of your hair otherwise you brush right through the curls. then use hairspray, not mousse. ive found that a great brand of hairspray is matrix hairspray. and for looser, messier curls, you separate each curl in two. it is a more casual, less shirley temple look.
then for waves, sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......
and if you shower in the morning, scrunch your hair with mousse and it looks pretty good but might get a little frizzy.
and to get a curled, more voluminous ponytail, here is what you do. just put your hair up in a ponytail before bed, then put anywhere from 1-3 curlers in it (depending on how much hair you have and how thick it is and how big you want your curls) then when you wake up, roll them right out, and re-tie your ponytail holder and brush the top of your head, without brushing down the curls. you can put hairspray in if you want, but you might not even need to for just a ponytail.
and as for just regular hairstyles, i would try sidebangs or whispy bangs instead of thick ones......dont know about the cut i might have to see the shape of your face, sry....
you can also do buns, because they are pretty in, or low pigtails, but you might be a little old for them, but my sister in college looks cute in them so i dont know.....
and side ponytails are cute and sporty.
as for hairbands, very cute and in!!!
u could wear your hair half-up, leaving your bangs down.....
good luck!! hope i helped!!!
