I am LDS/Mormon and I am Christian. I love the Bible and the Book of Mormon and I do not deny the DIVINITY of Jesus (hmm I wonder where I got my name) If other people want to say that LDS are not Christians, fine I don't go around claiming anything about them, but if they choose to that is their choice. Personally I think Jesus taught love and tolerance and that everyone who believes in him and that he is the only way shoudl be called a Christian. Why do I strive to be like him? Why do I love him? I am Christian, get over it.

Yes They are. Mormons believe in Jesus Christ.

1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) has 13 articles of faith. These are statements of our basic beliefs. The first and third are quoted above.

For more information on the LDS church please visit http://www.Mormon.org That is a site set up for people who are looking to find out more information on the LDS church.

Edit****

It looks as if some other posters have seriously incorrect information.

Mormons no longer practice poligamy and have not for over a century. Even still ancient Bible prophets practiced poligamy- so you can't use that to say that Mormons are not Christians.

I don't know where you people get the whole blood atonement thing- But Mormons have never believed or practiced that.

Since you have never been to the temple, you are gravely mistaken- Nothing ungodly happens in the temple. It is a holy place.

Yes Joseph Smith was a free Mason- Not sure why that matters, but the religion is not based on that. . The religion is based on The teaching of God the Father and Jesus Christ.

Please before you state something as a fact make sure you have the facts.

Their Theology does not agree with Basic Christian Theology.
Their Theology does not agree with their Book of Mormon.

They believe they will become gods or like god...can't find that in the Book of Mormon...you find it in Gen. 3.

They believe Jesus and The Devil are "Spirit Brothers" with no way to support such a teaching.

They....well, I'll end with that...I have been studying different religions for years and having my in-laws as Mormons really helps me to confirm some of the things they believe.

Now for "Bible Interpretations"? They don't differ since Mormons do read the KJV....problem is they hold the BOM higher than the bible...and in The BOM somewhere in 1 or 2nd Nephi it puts down anybody who only believes in the bible....I believe Nephi was a book from the 4th century B.C. the word bible was not in use yet...and to say we cannot trust Only in the bible......ImOut.

Before you put Mormons down for their beliefs, why not check out what you believe first. Do you believe that:

God is a trinity, even though the Bible mentions nothing about the Father, Son and the holy spirit being co-equal and co-eternal and that they all make up one God?

A loving God torments people forever in a hellfire?

The soul is immortal, although the Bible says at Ez. 18:4 that the soul does die?

All good people go to heaven, although Ps. 37:29 says: "The righteous themselves will possess the earth,
And they will reside forever upon it"?

It's true that the Mormons have wrong views about a number of things, but what about YOU?

Wow! I'd say about half of these answers lied about what Mormons believe... No wonder so many people hate them.

I am Christian I am also Mormon they mean the same thing. I believe in the Divinity of Christ, after all... the name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jesus is my personal Savior.

I normally don't get offended at what people say, but when people say we're racist that kinda gets me. The second councilor in the bishopric of my ward is from Ghana and I respect him deeply. I am NOT racist and neither are any of the Mormons I know!

Have a good day! :)

No it's not different Bible interpretations that make them non-Christians, it's different Bible definitions.
Example. (1) There is not only one God, there are many god's and goddesses for that manner.
(2) Jesus is not the only begotten Son of God, in fact He and Lucifer are spirit brothers.
So even though they will use the same words as other Bible believing Christians, they have vastly different meanings. These are only two of a number of abuses that are present in the Mormon church. They by definition are a Cult, and are no way to be confused with a Christian organization.
Blessings!

Mormons do not use the Holy Bible to lay the grounds for their worship. They believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet that was the basis for the Book of Mormon so they use what they believe is a later sending from the Lord.

Try to find an independent (non-biased) definition of a "christian" that includes protestants, catholics, etc while excluding mormons.

You won't find it. It doesn't exist.

They don't like us because we say "Our church is led by Jesus Christ himself through prophets just like it was in scriptural times" This means that we are right, they are wrong (if that is indeed true).

However, they sort of have this "my church is just as true as your church" attitude....even though they teach different things.

Essentially, they're treating it like a club that they are members of, and mormons are not.

They don't like us, so they create petty definitions of what is and isn't a Christian.

We believe in christ
He is our Lord
He is our Saviour
We should emulate him, study him, and try to be like him.
We believe in his teachings
We believe in the old testament
We believe in the new testament.
We believe that he suffered in Gethsemeny for our sins
We believe that he died on the cross and was resurrected 3 days later.
We believe that because of his sacrifice and the grace of god that we can be saved.
Individual members profess their belief and faith in christ publicly and regularly.
The leaders of the church profess their faith in Jesus Christ
The name of the church is "The Church of Jesus Christ"

......now, use your common sense here. Does that sound like something Christians believe, or does that sound like something "non-christians" believe???

....People above who say we're not christians, if they're honest, will also say that they don't like us. Coincidence???

Good point. It all comes down to interpretation...I could very easily say those who claim to be Christian aren't because they don't believe the same things I do...thats pretty much what they do to us LDS. Oh well, we know what we believe and God knows, I will trust him to be the judge.

Anti-Mormons don't believe we are CHristian because we aren't Christian like they are, or like they think we should be.
