Must be a new one. I have seen salons that offer wine to clients but not clients who bring wine in to share....
This is not necessary.

It sounds like this is a particulare relationship or friendship between those clients and the stylist. You should not feel required to do the same.
I have never seen this done, and I know quite a few stylists. This doesn't make it wrong, just unique. And we all know uniqueness can be a lot of fun!

I am From Atlanta and Several High -End hair Salons there serve wine and champagne to their customers. I don't know if I would want the stylist drinking though. To answer your question though it is old trend in upscale salons.

Never heard of this trend before. Maybe the client just wanted to be thoughtful.

Um I'm sure there was something bigger going on with that then just a run of the mill drink while doing the hair thing! I would have asked what was up and joined in the party!

Of course not! Would you want someone who was drinking to cut your hair? If it is truly customary to give something, take a new recipe for hors d'oeuvres. Then again, most stylists appreciate tips the best.

I do not think that it is a trend but if you would like to share some wine with your stylist, why not?(provided that he/she enjoys it!)

when my stylist bought a new salon, i brought a couple of bottles of chilled champagne to share in his joy, and i would bring a bottle of wine if i was good friends with my stylist, and knew they enjoy wine.

You want someone who has been drinking wine all day to cut your hair? It is a place of work, not a bar. I would certainly never go back to a place where the staff drank while working. It is a stupid idea.

I would really be careful doing this.. if very many do it they might not like the hair cuts/styles they get from a drunk stylist.. just sayin'.
