There is God's Spirit - the Holy Spirit - which we christians know as He is involved in our lives, and we are His temple.

Less easy to pick out is our own spirit. Its hard to tell what comes from our spirits and what from our souls. I can't do that yet. But in reading the Word, and with the help of the Holy Spirit we can discern the difference. [Hebrews 4:12]. If one could follow the instructions of God's spirit and one's own born-again spirit one would never go wrong. Soul and emotions can be badly misled.

Our spirit gets born again according to John's gospel when we believe on Christ. This means the Holy Spirit can then dwell in it. [John 1; John 3]

As a christian our spirit is actually in a real sense one with Christ through the Holy Spirit - like one organic whole, yet we submit freely as it is a thing of love.

John 6:63 ...the words that I speak to you they are life and spirit......Simply and literally stated, when you talk to a person you never see with your eyes any word....but if you understand what he /she is saying, there is communication. And what ever the words address direct to you, you either believe, follow, because it clearly registers in your mind and in your heart, then your spirit is well and alive. On the other side,if the words mean just nothing to you, your heart did not respond although you understand it, then it is said to be that your spirit is dead.

No one can really define what a spirit *is*.
I have yet to see a concrete definition of a spirit. I've seen plenty of examples of what a spirit should be (Christians will often tell you, "The Holy Spirit", "God", "Jesus", "your soul", etc.), but not any definition.

It looks to me like we can only define a spirit by what it is NOT... corporeal, physical, tangible.
So how do we know that it exists?

G-d's Holy Spirit is like the "breath" upon which His word
(G-d) is carried.
