I cannot comment on the workings of God.
In reading Numbers 31 you discover that the Israelits had gone to war & won, they didn't do mass rape all the women who had known men, & all the males children where killed, the females that were virgins, were split up amongst the Israelites, & became thier slaves/serevnts with whom they could do what ever.
In saying this I also remember that to change a nation you had to change how the women think. If you change the womens thinking then you will find that that nation & their views will cease to exist as it is the women who nurture & teach the children. ( and using as an example look at the world today & compare it to the world of 2 generations ago & you will see my reasoning other examples are the middle east from around the Crusades etc) So in that light God knew exactly what needed to be done to change the nation of Midianites.
As for swaering on the bible, I'd be to scared to Because if you lied...... YOu would have to stand before God & explain why , & the outcome isn't going to be pretty.
But In Australia, you have an option to swear on the bible or not, I think you have been watching to many Hollywood movies personally.

What Bible are YOU reading?
The Jewish men (not boys) took those virgins captive, and took them to themselves, as wives, slaves, and female children to raise. Nowhere does it say that they were raped, and nowhere does it say they were gang-raped as babies.
But aside from your incorrect interpretation of scripture, courts allow witnesses who object to swearing on the Bible to just swear to tell the truth, without necessarily holding a hand on a Bible.

No longer required to swear on a bible. No longer required to swear. Its an Oath of Affirmation, affirming that you will tell the truth.

You guys sure have fun slamming the old testament, but you haven't even read the new testament where God expressed his love for us. Continue to have fun. Just remember, everything you've said has been said before and proven to be irrelevant.
All Christ wants is a relationship with you. In Him you can see reasoning behind the Old Testament.

Why not swear on a dictionary? It's just as meaningfully significant. Words like rape, truth, and lie are all in it.

I would *****-slap anyone who made me swear on the bible... You know... That gives me an idea. I could swear on the bible. I could take it off the table, stand on it, and start spewing out curses!
