If you like using film then the 30v is a great camera, its an amateur level rather than professional, but it has everything most people could realistically want: multi mode metering (including spot), motordrive built in, a range of controls from auto to full manual.
Many fools decry film as dead, most enlightened people recognise the merits of both. I shoot digital for speed and convenience, I shoot film for quality. A canon EOS 30v is a contemproary quality film SLR that will seldom put a foot wrong left to it's own devices and will compliment your ability as you gradually take control of the settings yourself.
The Canon EOS system is one of the,if not the worlds most popular modern SLR system, the lenses that fit it fit all contemporary canon digital cameras, so you can buy into a system knowing that your kit won't become obsolete.
The colour depth of film is beyonf anything that digital can offer as yet. By buying into the canons ytem you keep your options open for the future, should you wish to compliment your fine fil camera with a digital body.

The 30V looks like a good camera. Here's some background information, including its position in the hierarchy of EOS film bodies: http://photonotes.org/reviews/5-50-30/
But personally, I wouldn't buy a film camera anymore. Not without a good reason. Digital provides about the same image quality, it's more convenient, and in the long run it's cheaper.
