purgatory???
kissing the ring of a pope?
must confess to a priest?
oh, don't forget 'annulments'! how can you say that someone who has been married for 22 years, has 3 children together... promised before God to love honor and cherish... were never really married? give them some $$$ and a couple signed pieces of paper and poof... the 'church' says you are free from the adultery clause in the bible...

You will never get the loyal Catholic Pr merchants and their followers to change their mind- so strong is the psych-ops of the Vatican.
Limbo
================
On the question of Limbo, most will happily side step a proper answer by saying the "church" never had an official doctrine on it, or that nowhere in the Bible does it say Limbo exists.
Of course, this is a disingenuous position given priests, nuns and Popes used the fear of "baby hell" to force people to baptize their children Catholic for hundreds of years.
Nor should you expect any kind of apology or even recognition of historic fact that the threat of Limbo has been used to keep women in line since the beginning of the Roman Pope's power.
Celibacy, marriage
===================
Catholic apologists stock standard answer on this is to claim all the key followers of Jesus were male, ignoring for the moment all the key women of the New Testament including his wife Mary Magdalene and his mother.
They then claim because (according to Paul of Tarsus, a fierce hater of women) Jesus had no women around him, the Vatican simply follows the orders of Jesus.
Of course this is both a simplistic and absurd argument, given clearly women were key members of the supporters of Jesus and that several credible gospels, possibly even earlier than the synoptic gospels indicate that Mary Magdalene and the women were at least equal, if not more influential.
Through a combination of avoidance and misdirection, somehow in the 21st Century, the Vatican maintains its adherence to celibacy and male only priests.
Real fear
=========
The real fear of the Vatican has always been that one day God and indeed Jesus would in fact come again and reveal the truth surrounding the history of evil of the Popes and the fact that they have never represented him, his word, nor his apostles.
See:
http://one-faith-of-god.org/final_testament/end_of_darkness/evil/evil_0010.htm
Their real fear is that these are indeed the end times and the truth concerning the Vatican and who they truly worship will be revealed.

So it's wrong to honor the dead? Jesus teaches us of eternal life and those who don't believe Mary was "Assumed" (chosen by Jesus) then we have no hope to be "Assumed" either. In fact to say that Mary was not "Assumed" it to say that Jesus will not resurect us.
Yes, the Catholic Church has made mistakes. However, this statement by Benedict XVI about "Limbo" has been said by the prior Popes John Paul II, and Paul X. It isn't news, rather affirmations of what has already been shared. Additionally, all Popes who've discussed this have NOT marked it *infalliable*.
If you want to see what else the Catholic Church is wrong about, you might want to check some of the appologies John Paul II gave during his reign.

The catholics have erred in believing that Mary was ever-virgin. She was a virgin when Jesus was born. The Bible tells us that after Christ was born, Mary and Joseph had children (Mark 6:3).

Oh, so you're back to using this Yahoo ID again? How nice. . .at least that's more honest of you than dragging out all your sock puppets and putting on a show for us.
When you stand before God and He tells you that you're no better than a murderer because you hate your brothers and sisters in Christ, I hope you at least have the decency not to complain. You were warned in 1 John 3:15, so don't blame Him when He tells you, "Depart you worker of inquity, I never knew you."

would people quit referring to catholics as praying to mary. simply put we ask her as we'd ask anyone here on earth to pray for us. bowing down to graven images lol what a joke. if you don't fully know the religion please don't condemn. No one is forbidden to marry. if a man chooses to become a priest then he's made that choice.People always hate what's beautiful. Just let it go already.

Oh oh somebody made a list. I suppose that means I should leave The Church that has been here since Christ established it 2,000 years ago for your church. Tell me again; when was your church founded? By whom was it founded? Not 2,000 years ago, or by Christ would be my guess.

Everything about Our Lady points straight back to the Father, Whose faithful daughter she is; to the Son, Whose mother she is; and to the Holy Ghost Who overshadowed her. There is no one in all of History whose relationship with God is as complex, fulfilled, and achingly beautiful as Mary's. She is not only the greatest of Saints, she is our Mother, as Jesus is our Brother and Savior. In honoring her, we honor Him -- and imitate Him, as we are admonished to both honor our parents and imitate Christ, Who loved His Mother. Our relationship with Mary is that of a child to a blessed Mother who was given to us as Jesus gave her to John at the Cross. She is our spiritual Mother (Revelation 12:17 -- And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ), and she wants to pray for us.
Hail, Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.

There was never a Catholic doctrine on "limbo".
How can the Catholic Church be wrong about something that was never a Catholic doctrine?
