Yes He did turn the water into wine, but the NT also says to NOT get DRUNK on wine, which leads to debauchery. Jesus, the sinless ONE, would have not have drank to access.
In addition, remember that wine actually served two functions in ancient Israel. One, of course, it was a drink - but according to scholars, its was very watered down compared to the wine we drink today. As a matter of fact, that leads to the second point, which is that alcohol had a function of helping to clean water from disease-causing agents.
Here's the thing - as born-again, we are to do everything we can to not sin. If you know its a sin, why are you doing it? If you know you'll feel guilty, why are you doing it? Just don't! I used to hang out with friends at parties often on Fridays and Saturdays - and I chose not to drink at all. Its a choice.

You need to really get serious about The Lord. You are asking for people to justify to you what you already know to be wrong or you would not be asking. I have been there to. Be careful you are talking to people that are witches Satanist and JUST plain Evil. The guilt you feel is the Holy Spirit trying to tell you something is wrong with your thinking. Read your bible and let it talk to you. I laughed when a lady told me that while going through the worst part of my Hell. It is a LIVING WORD and if you REALLY want the Lord to be your Savior then you have to look to him and not others for your salvation. You also have to read up on the period of Jesus; they didn't have good water to drink. There was and is vast desert and limited water. He also tells in his word not to be a gut ton,or drunker. So justify all you will but I think you know that getting drunk is a sin and you are knowingly doing it. Keep searching and God will seek you out but be careful he will get your attention and you will not like it. I am praying for you and the lord Jesus will fill up that hole your trying to full if you will only let him. He will never leave you or forsake you that is his promise and you can stand on that.

Wine was for normal everyday consumption, due to the lack of good pure drinkable water.
Jesus also said to "be not drunk with wine" and gave us other warnings about "strong drink."
It'll be a sin Saturday night, and all the other days and nights also.
Drinking is not prohibited in the scriptures. Drunkeness is.

It is not drinking that is a sin it is the getting drunk part. It is a sin any time you over do something, (food, pop, alcohol) anything in excess is sinful! So go out have a couple beers and enjoy life without getting drunk.

Dear knight,
Becoming drunken is sin regardless of what day of the week it is. Before you go out to engage in this sin, why not read Proverbs 23:29-35. Then pray and ask the Lord to help you refrain from this sin.
"Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowlege."

God will decide that.....
Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
Proverbs 31:6
Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish;
Isaiah 29:9
Be stunned and amazed, blind yourselves and be sightless; be drunk, but not from wine, stagger, but not from beer.
Micah 2:11
If a liar and deceiver comes and says, 'I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,' he would be just the prophet for this people!

I love wine...I adore wine...I am obsessed with wine...
But yet I never ever get drunk.
Why?
Because I am not a child who doesn't know how to handle her drink and drinks any nasty bottom shelf swill offered to her.
I like to drink and enjoy that drink and savor that....
To drink just to get drunk is stupid and can make you sick. Plus, you end up acting like an a$s.
And if you act like an a$s and commit sin....then its your own fault.
