Well, the other day I took my dag walking with a friend of mine, about half way through the walk, in the distance, I saw him start to turn his head sideways as he was returning to me with his ball in his mouth. it looked like something was irritating him or he had an itch. he then shook his head and hasn't sopped since. it was a little wet out side and maybe I thought he could have just gotten water in his ears, but upon looking in his ear I noticed a bunch of red dots all over the inside of his ear. what is it, he just won't stop. please help, he doesn't deserve this, he's too much of a good guy to have to suffer.

take your dog to a vet.

It could be any number of things.

Head tilts can be associated with encephalitis, ingestion of toxic chemicals, head trauma.

or it could be something irritating his ear.

Best to have a vet look at your dog

Sounds like either ear mites or it could be a yeast infection. The red bumps can either be from the mites or even flea bites. Lots of dogs are allergic to both. what a lot of people don't know that a dogs diet will contribute to his ears. Use a natural approach before you see a vet unless the dog is in tremendous pain. Ear mites are easy to get rid of but you have to be diligent in your regimen. Ear mites go through several stages of growth and you need to use your remedy every day. First of all swab out his ears with a ear cleaner and a soft cloth. Most dogs love the attention and most like the feeling of the cleaning. Cleaning by the way should be done about every two weeks.Don't worry about getting to far down in the ear canal it isn't going to happen. If it is dark and nasty looking it is probably ear mites. If it smells bad then it is a infection. Infections can come from a lot of different things. Ears are moist, warm and dark and this is just a perfect breeding ground for infections. If your dog is a swimmer please make sure his ears are dry after he is done this will also contribute to infections if left wet. If a natural approach doesn't seem to help please see your vet.

Looks likes your dog has ear mites, unlike cats and dogs when they shake their heads or scratch them self's to get rid of the annoying itch in their ear but its not going to help that much. The best that you could help your dog is to get rid of that is to take them to a vet and get some ear medicine to treat ear mite and later you can get some other preventive medicene. to prevent any more ear mites returning in the future. This does happen a'lot to dogs and cats, but you don't want to keep your dog suffering from those annoying ear mites or let make it go any worsen, your dog would be happy to have the ear medicene and so on, its easy to treat i would say.

His ears are hurting him. We adopted a dog from a shelter who had such bad bilateral ear infections that we had to take him to the emergency vet the night we adopted him. If not treated, this will just get worse, and you are right, he doesn't deserve that. They may do a culture to see what kind of infection it is so that they can prescribe the correct antibiotics for the poor little fellow. Please call your vet right away so that he can feel better as soon as possible. Give him a hug for me.

You're right he doesn't deserve it - take him to the vets and they will sort it out. Most likely it is a problem with the ears - infection, mites or both. A vet can sort it out, but the longer you leave it the harder it will be - and the more expensive!

Sounds like your dog has earmites. You can buy the treatment over the counter. Wal-Mart, pet supply stores ect. It is best to have your dog diagnosed by a vet. before treatment to make sure you are treating for the right thing. Might try calling your local vet and asking them to be sure before buying medication over the counter. Earmites are a very common thing and they are not to difficult to get rid of but if not treated it can cause major irritation and spread to other animals.

Ear mites or some other type of bug. See the vet. They will give you drops to put in his ear(s). Clear it up in just a few days.

It could be an ear infection. It could also be bug bites like those little nats are good for that. Either way he needs relief and I would take him to your vet.
