8 glasses (8oz) - 64 oz a day. if you are really active you can drink up to 12 glasses - 96oz.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

Hi, what has always worked for me is the "Atkins Diet". It is not an easy one to do.However I guarantee that you will get results.
On The Atkins Diet you can eat all meats and cheese. But for the first 2 weeks no Carbohydrates or if you need to eat some eat under 20 Carbs a day. In the first 2 weeks I lost 12 pounds!
Go to your local book store and pick up the
"Dr. Atkins' Carbohydrate Gram Counter" by Robert C. Atkins, MD. If you follow this little book you will be very pleased.
About how much water to drink I would say no more then 3 liters before you check with your doctor.

You should drink about 8 glasses of water a day.
(1 glass is about 8 oz.)
So..about 64 ounces give or take would be really good.
And yes, water is very good for losing weight. It flushes out the fat and bad stuff.

sorry but who ever told you to drink that much water was crazy if you are only 15 your body only needs 2 litres at the most per day be careful my boy you could ruin your liver with to much water, your a growing boy eat well and walk everyday you will balance out real good be patient ask your coach for some health advice if hes half as interested in your health he will give you some pointers keep u the good work your headed in the right direction
