I'm a Buddhist and I can tell you that its okay... for us, we don't really bother but mind you, it is definitely disrespectful and distasteful to have condone such things.
Buddhists aren't really bothered by such actions as we know these are ignorant actions and only a fool can do. Do you recall the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan? What was the reaction of Buddhists like? But if you were to compare the other religious sects who faced such things, the whole world is going to be a more dangerous place (eg. the Danish cartoon which insulted Muslims had drew anger and outrage by millions of Muslims across the globe).
This mad and crazy world is already in a mess and we do not need more of this nonsense...
Well, of course, we were saddened to think about it but life goes on and those who destroyed the Bamiyan statues are now facing destruction upon themselves (which is karma)... We do have sympathy for them and wish them well be they Muslims or Christians or any other faiths who never understood our Buddhist teachings.
I wish you luck and have fun.

I'm not a Buddhist, but I'd be a little offended by your joke. Not because of the specific content, but because it doesn't sound very funny and demonstrates a lack of respect for your audience. Can't you come up with something a little better than a picture of a person with a llama head?

i does no longer say I oppose the Dalai Lama, yet neither do I "idealize" him. I prepare Zen, a distinctive form of Buddhism than his. i do no longer learn Tibetan faith or politics, and that i've got not got any opinion approximately what the Dalai Lama says or does. I do have faith, even with the undeniable fact that, that an entire checklist of the abusive practices employed via the Communist chinese language, in Tibet and of their very own usa, might exceed those you have reported. purely via working in the direction of meditation, non-violence, and compassion for all sentient beings can anybody upward thrust above such abuses.

I hope that you know the answer to this. You are just playing with us aren't you? Of course it would be offensive. What has a Buddhist ever done to you? They are good, peace loving people. Be kind.
Your mama should have taught you that you never joke about religion or politics if you don't want to offend someone, somehow.

I'd make it a pic of a herd of llamas with a lama.
His Holiness is actually a funny guy and likes to joke.

I think most people will be okay with that... The buddhists might find it in poor taste.
Maybe ask one of them before the presentation if they'd be offended.

I'd say that would be very offensive. Would you like it if someone of another religion made a joke of yours? Nuff said.

I doubt they'd be offended, and you can be sure that he wouldn't be offended.
