you will end up gaining because all you are gona lose is water weight and muscle and also slow down your metabolism dramatically. as soon as you start eating normal again you will gain back even more.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

400 calories a day can be considered anorexic and all you'll end up with is a bony frame, very high bodyfat percentage, no lean muscle, hair loss, weak bones and joints, and the possibility of permanent health damage like osteoperosis.
At minimum, women need between 1400-1800 calories per day, depending on size and body composition. Active women need even more than that. If you get too few calories, you'll go into "starvation mode", or the point where your body metabolizes lean muscle for energy and retains most of the available bodyfat.
Of course, it goes without saying that you should lay off the fast food and junk (even you know this as you mention that in the post above). These are the worst kinds of foods you can eat and will do nothing but sabotage your efforts.

Im sorry, but that is dangerous. First of all, with only 400 calories you would barely have the energy to walk from the couch to the bathroom more than three times, and an hour at the gym? forget it. It is dangerous. Even though you might lose A LOT of weight fast, it wont look good. Your body will have lost both the fat AND the muscle mass. If you really want to lose weight, and keep it off while still looking good, you really should keep your calorie intake the same, but get them from different foods. Eat fruits and vegetables and white meat. I suggest no pasta or rice because they get stored as fat in your tummy and upper legs. Red meat has lots of fat in it that will get absorbed into your bloodstream, causing lots of problems. As for your hour at the Gym, unnecessary. If all you want to do is lose weight, not achieve muscle mass, all you need to do is Sprint, fast as you can, for a minute. Then jog for a minute, and rotate back to the Sprinting. Do this for 20minutes every OTHER day, you will burn the calories fast. Another idea is Yoga, the more absurd the pose, the better it is. Overall, bad idea. Don't try it.

400 calories a day is not enough to give you the nutrients you need for the long run. That diet will only last for a couple weeks at the most. Make sure to eat your weight plus a 0 at the end in calories. For example, if you weigh 170, eat 1700 calories a day to lose weight. But most importantly, make sure to eat healthy foods such as whole grain breads, lean meats, fruits and vegetables. Skim milk, low fat cheeses and nuts are good for you too. You also need to make sure to eat healthy fats such as olive oil and omega 3 fatty acids which can be found in foods such as salmon. If you eat about 6 meals a day, and combine that with some strength training, you can look awesome in a couple months or even weeks! Just remember to not starve yourself, but eat to live, don't live to eat. Also, make sure to let yourself have a little treat every once in a while like a piece of cake or pie or whatever you want.

Odds are you will lose a lot of weight pretty fast, but you will also gain it back and then some quicker once you stop the diet. It is extremely unhealthy for anyone to eat that few of calories per day, its very risky and long term will not be worth it. Try a sensible diet of about 1200 calories, go on line and check out some web sites like shape magazine or self and see what kind of a healthy diet they suggest. Losing weight is not a quick process, the average loss should be 1 to 2 pounds per week, thats all..so give yourself plenty of time..there are no quick fixes for weight loss or everyone in the world would be thin. good luck

400 calories a day will harm your body.
Anything less than 1200 a day will put your body in "Starvation mode" which means you won't lose as much because your body will cling to whatever it has.
Sure you might lose some..but you'll probably gain it back when you stop the diet.
So please..atleast make it 1200..but make it come from healthy foods as well.
Best of luck =]

400 calories a day is not nearly enough! If you do not eat AT LEAST 1000 calories a day, your body goes into "survival" mode and starts conserving & storing your fat. I just recently went to a weight loss DR and I am suppose to be eating between 1200-1500 calories a day and so far I've lost 8 lbs in 1.5 weeks. They can't stress to me how important it is to eat AT LEAST 1000 calories a day.

honey you can eat much more calories than that and lose weight. 400 a day borders anorexia. try a diet with 1000-1300 calories a day with lots of fruit, veggies and protein, and exercise at least 45 minutes a day. you just need to deprive your body of the bad things it's used to storing (junk food) and get it into the habit of burning the right stuff for energy.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!
