I know it's a bit late on the answer but I used to have a 1999 Pontiac Firebird V6 that had the 3.8L with 200hp, my car probably weighed around 2800 lbs. I added a K&N cool air intake too and Priuses would give me a run for my money. Heck, I have a 2014 Ford Mustang V6 now with a 305hp 3.7L engine weighing around 3300 lbs and a Prius was coming up quick, I hit my gas and it stayed with me pretty good for about a couple seconds then I slowly pulled away. I couldn't believe it! With the 50+mpg to my 24mpg rating I didn't know they could be that quick. I would've gotten one myself but don't like the way they look. I'm sure they're pretty light though, so that helps plus reading in place that a Prius can get alot of torque due to the two types of engines. I'm thinking people mod theirs somehow but maybe not. I never pulled any of these people over to ask. LOL

RE:
how fast does a prius go?

I love my 2004 prius. I can cruise along on the highway well, usually around 75 MPH. It's max speed is 108 MPH.
I have never had a problem getting going, it has a lot of torque compaired to the horsepower 111 hp/285 ft/lbs.

Well - It's not a race car - Although it has more torque than most cars on the road - It is actually held back electronically! It is as fast as any other car - You really can't tell when driving it... except that the response to the gas pedal is quicker then a engine - It has a mote (electric) and the engine is used simply to charge the battery - Well it does other things like heat the water for the heater! Trust! me - It has all the power you want and will go an easy 90MPH or faster if you want... I have driven many cars - I have driven just about everything on the road - You will be surprised - It doesn't cost anything to pop over to your local Toyota Dealer and take one for a spin!

Good Luck - It's a great choice... and your Kids and grand-kids will love you for it...

As fast as you want it to go... A good speed is usually 100 km/h

They "sell" really, really, fast. They literally 'fly' out the door of Toyota dealerships!
