Why don't you just ask him. I don't think he would mind since he does it but he could be a hypocrite.

I think that would be rude. Imean if you are renting from him, I'm guessing that is HIS coffee table so therefore he can do what he wants. Putting your feet up on something is like ownership, therefore, I would not copy him. if you do copy him he will give you a look or say somehting like get your feet off my table.

That is sooo rude. Do you mean would it be okay for you to put your feet on his coffee table? Yes, it would still be rude. Etiquette is etiquette and even though he problaby wouldn't notice or give a hoot, you will know you were being an etiuette hipocrite...or a hypocritical ettiqueter. Or an ettiquer hippocratus. Well, you know what I mean.

No, don't repeat his behavior. If he ever does that again, ask him politely to remove his feet from your coffee table. Some people just don't know any better.

Who's coffee table is it? If it's yours and you don't want feet on it speak up and say so. If you don't care, go ahead and put your feet up to.

It would absolutely be appropriate for you to ask before you do it. I think to just prop your feet up on his table, even if he is doing the same, would be rude.

Well i think it would be "safer" if you just asked him if he wouldn't mind if you went on ahead and "kicked" back with him...
for example:
"dude, i know its your table but is it cool if i put my feet up there too?"

If it's his coffee table then it's fine, you may put your feet on it as well.

As long as no one flips over my ash tray full of cigarette butts, it's ok.
