An extra tip about overdrive.
When driving in rain, sleet or snow make sure the overdrive is OFF. This way your car will down shift on its own, when overdrive is ON the car tends to coast further and does not downshift.

It will lower your gearing and give you more power on demand when needed. Going up mountians, pulling a trailer.
It may also be useful in the rain/snow. It will allow more engine braking so you have to use the brake pedal less. All you have to do to slow down is let off the gas. It can be a life saver if your car hydroplanes in the rain!
Leave overdrive on for better gas milage and normal driving conditions

Same use as in any vehicle. It allows you to deactivate the overdrive gear in the transmission, such as when climbing hilly terrain, city driving, or towing (hopefully not with a mustang).
