i am so glad to read everyone else's answers to this question! I am not alone!!! Shadow, my 5 month old kitten, wakes me up every morning between 6 and 6 30 am. She is so cute when she does it though, she is purring and licks my face and taps me with her paws, as if to say "hey, wake up" I usually kiss her back, and then get up and feed her. If I go right back to sleep after this, she will find something else to do before deciding napping with mommy is a good idea. When I finally get up for the day, so does she.

it somewhat is established, so don't be nervous approximately your kitten. perhaps she needs interest? supply her a lot of love and play together with her in the day so she isn't drowsing( Then she'll sleep greater at night) regardless of if she is a lazy cat, no kitten can face up to a toy mouse or some string. If not something works, then evaluate making her an out of doors cat, then she'll get greater workout in the day (chasing birds and exploring your backyard) and he or she will meow without waking you up. reliable success!

I am currently having the same problem. It has been very well going for my 1 1/2 yr old cat, but recently she is getting on my last nerve waking me up at the time you mentioned. I don't understand this myself. AND, she will not let me nap in the afternoons lately. She has refused to nap with me. Her behavior is just unpredictable, and disgusting.
Can anyone help both of us? Yeah, they are playful in early morning, and during the wee hrs of night.

So you might have to deal with it, Your lucky at this point my cat is 12 years old and wakes me up at least 2 to 3 times a night. Wanting in and outside differnt times a night. Yes this is a cat that is doing this. Yours might out grow this with time. Good luck and enjoy those annoying little ones. LOL

HAHA! You answered your own question.
This is simply a matter of training your kitty -- or letting him think he's trained you. He's just a baby, and wants attention. Give it to him. Even if it's just a few minutes of cuddling and gentle petting (don't "play" and get him wound up if you want to go back to sleep). If you scoop him up and cuddle him, he'll eventually decide that's the outcome when he wakes you up, and he'll setting down and go back to sleep cuddling with you -- or decide you're not doing what he wants you to do and find something else to do in that part of his schedule.
I have an 18 month old "kitten" who still likes to wake me up at 5-6 in the morning, but she wants to cuddle. This wakes me up for about 10 minutes and I get her settled down and into a cuddly sleeping position, and she's happy and quiet.
It's all trial & error -- you two will just have to figure out how to work it out. But eventually, they will allow you to sleep -- it just takes awhile to figure out what the silly human wants.

Absolutely. I have a cat who is 15 months old and STILL wakes us up between 4-5 in the morning. We finally started kicking him out of the room--once he wakes us up we take him out of the room. He cried for about two weeks, you should just ignore them when they do this and they will eventually learn, at least not to meow at the door, I don't think my cat will ever learn not to wake us up in the morning.

Our cat, Smitty, still does this, never grew out of it. We have several choices to either 1) get up and feed him, and then go back to bed; 2) show him the door, and then go back to bed; 3) don't let him sleep in our room.
Most nights we choose number 2. He's a cutey pie and a rascal, but we love him. For us it used to be 4:15 a.m., but he's older now, and sleeps in to 5 a.m. Sometimes if my husband plays with him right before we go to bed (the flashlight game is especially good), he makes it until 6 a.m.
Hey, I think we'll have to do the flashlight game before bed every night!
Now if I can only get my husband to get up and let the cat out, I could sleep in!
Good luck.

My kitten used to wake up like that then run around like a hyper freak! Lol. Now she does wake up that early, she wakes up around 7 AM then sleeps the rest of the day. You have to remember that young kitten loves to play and have fun. =)

My kittens do this to me all the time. When I forget to set my alarm in the morning they will both jump on my head at the time i need to get up. On weekends when I don't work, they still do the same thing, but earlier than normal. I've tried closing my bedroom door on them, but they will meow and cry until I open the door. What I do is set them on the floor roll over and go back to sleep. I just had to get used to them jumping on me. It's not easy, but eventually you do get used to it.

I don't have kittens anymore, but my 16-year old cat wakes me up EVERY Saturday morning at 7:00 sharp. She uses her little paw to tap on my face, to tell me that I'm late to feed her! Sometimes, I just get up and feed her, then go back to bed!
