Get a mate to stand behind you and every time you say it drop an ice cube down the back of your shirt. Should work.

Saying "cool" is cool. I mean, is there a word that's more cool? The coolest part about it is that you can use it about any cool place you want. If you think it's cool to put it at the end of your sentence, that's cool. It's also cool if you want to put it at the front. Then, of course, it's cool if you can just use it as an idea by itself. Cool, huh? At least it's not like the uncool "words" like, "um". I bet by daughter I could make her say, "um". Then, all I did was ask her a question, and the first word was, "um"...and this wasn't cool.
So, as you can see, there are worse things than saying, "cool". It's not just a filler ("um"), but it actually has a cool place in the language. Like when you can't think of another cool word to put in and you want to be lazy. It's also not one of the cool swear words, so you can't offend, either. However, curtailing a cool word like "cool" is a cool idea. To determine how many times "cool" is cool to use in a conversation, though, simply read what I wrote here and highlight the last time it was cool to use the word "cool". That's a good indicator as too how many times one should say, "cool" in a conversation. If you still think it's cool to use "cool" at this point, it would probably be cool if you went and saw a therapist.
Stay cool.

Yes, there should definitely be a limit on how many times one says "Cool". When ever you feel it coming on, try and think of another word to use instead. Read the thesaurus and expand the mind lol

Yeah...we make up our own words. There really is no 'real english' substitute for "cool." I usually only say "cool" if there is nothing else to say (like my little cousin is showing me his 30th matchbox car). Try thinking of what you mean to say and why when you are saying "cool" and say that instead. Within reason, of course.

p.s. "Cool" is this generation's version of "groovy" if you would rather use the latter. ;)

Yes, except when in conversation in Scotland on a Hebridean Island whilst a force 10 gale is blowing in off the Atlantic and the birds are walking.

Giving oneself a bit of a smack may help. And honestly, I think using it once in a conversation is too much unless there is a really good reason to say it.
I prefer "wicked" when I think something is fab, but sparingly. All these words can be quite painful to the one hearing.
Good luck.

Yes there should be a limit. Don't become like these people to whom "cool" isn't enough anymore and they have to resort to "very cool," frequently.

Try to be creative and use as many synonyms for cool as possible. Then people will think you are interesting and articulate!

that depends on the "area"...in the United States... some places are not privvy to that kind of talk nor are some age groups, people, etc...... thus the phrase:
"there is a time and a place for everything"
