No, it doesn't offend me. But I hope that one day we can start chanting "People Power!" instead. A reasonable pride and respect for ones background and heritage is acceptable and admirable. It takes a disturbing turn when pride for your own "ethnicity" causes you to hate or cast off others that are different. (I am not referring to people who defend their heritage against hatred and racism).
When people work together they can accomplish amazing things (that's what the world needs to realize). This constant self imposed segregation is counter productive to everyone.

No, but I got offended yesterday when somebody was using the Va tech shooters pic as his avatar.
Would White Power be offensive?
I didn't know what poder meant before you told me.
Well, if one's offensive than they both have to be offensive right? Quite frankly, I wouldn't "power" anything- But that is just me.

No. Whether it's "Poder Latino," "White Power," "Fear of a Black America," "Ummah Wahida," "Never Again," or any other affermation by a racist of his solidarity with and love for his own kind, I try not to take offense.
It is one thing to express pride in your background, or a desire to help and defend those you consider your own people. It is quite another disparage or incite violence against those you consider to be of another kind - the former is offensive, the latter arguably criminal (if specific enough and likely to be carried out).

It represents a rise against oppression from Latin Americans, isn't that what most people on this forum want us to do????
Edit - Latin is not a race, that would be like saying "American Power." I would not find it offensive.
--
DAR it's kind of difficult to communicate like this, but anyhow, it's not the fist of communism -- even though I admit it sort of looks like it. Also, Latino is not an ethnicity, we have whites, blacks, mestizos, indians, and even asians included in the Latino community.

I do not find that image offensive in the least. Rather, I like it.
What is wrong with unity of the Latin American countries? What is wrong with fighting oppression?
Nowhere in it is there anything slamming another race or ethnicity.
To me, his image is equivalent to me saying "Opre Roma!". Opre Roma! means... Rise Roma! This is a message of pride to all of the Romani and that we should stand up against oppression in unity... the entire Romani nation (that is hard to understand... the Romani nation is wherever a Romani happens to live and is not limited by geography).
Podor Latino sounds like our concept of Opre Roma!

No. I think he is one of the few people in here who say what they want to say without caring what anyone else thinks. I like his answers, and his avatar does not offend me in any way. You know what? I actually like it.

It didn't, but I didn't really notice it.
Give me a moment, and I'll see if I can work up some offense.
Nah, not really. But maybe it is just because it is siervocal.
--
I tried, Mendi, really I did. I went back to a question of mine he had answered to look at his avatar and see if it would inspire me to rage.
But it looks like he may have changed it, at least right now his avatar looks like mine. Doubtless it is a matter of 'immitation being the highest form of flattery.'
I will ask him next time I see him.

Hey, Siervo! You have the communist red fist again! Latin is not a country, either. It's an ethnicity, like saying 'Aryan Power'.
-
I don't think of ethnicity as a color but a culture. Maybe I'm wrong.

Are you the boss of Yahoo Mendi? What is offensive it that you choose to chastise SiervoCal publicly. So what if that is what he has on his page?? Why would you call him out on it? There are alot of things I find on people pages offensive, Zoe's nasty vulgar lying blogs are offensive, nudity is offensive.. if you don't like it I suggest you stay off his page.

A few day ago I would say live and let live, but after the slaying of all those students and teachers, I wonder what signs we should be looking for to protect both ourselves and the ones we love. I still don't know.
