The last couple of nights, I've been hearing what I think is my daughter 'blabbing' in her sleep through the monitor. I say 'blabbing' because it's as if she's talking, but I don't hear any actual words. Normally, this is unusual for her because she always talks so clearly. But anyway, I hear this suddenly and then by the time I get up to see if she's awake, I hear nothing. Not even her stirring around. At first I thought that she woke up and was talking with her little stuffed puppy she sleeps with, but when I realized I didn't hear any words, I knew that wasn't the case. Then, I thought maybe she's talking in her sleep. I know some adults do that, but do children do that also? But then.... another thought crossed my mind. This may sound weird, but I've heard stories about people hearing weird noises or voices coming from the monitor, but when they go into their baby's bedroom, they are still asleep and nobody else is around. Maybe it happens from interference with other electronics.

Of course your daughter could be talking in her sleep. People who talk in their sleep are not necessarily clear in their diction but they do make sounds that pass for talking.

I too have heard of baby monitors picking up the odd transmission from hear by radios.

I wouldn't worry about her talking in her sleep too much unless she starts to have bad dreams and starts screaming or such.

Even then you probably should only go in and just gently wake her up. Then help her get back to sleep.

Those are super early bedtimes. I would keep them up a bit later. I think 8 is a great bedtime. Try doing quiet things with them before you put them in bed such as story time. If they behave well at bedtime then tomorrow night they get storytime again. If they don't then there is no storytime. But taking away a child's toys is also a great idea. You don't have to let them have toys those are rewards for well behaved children.

You can get interference from other electronics if they are on the same frequency as your baby monitor.

But it's probably just your daughter talking in her sleep. My son is 8 and I swear to you that boy is NEVER quiet. LOL As long as he's been able to make noise with his mouth, other than crying, he's done it in his sleep. I've have many entertaining evenings just watching him sleep and listening to what he says! It's probably nothing but her talking in her sleep, and it's perfectly fine!

Baby monitors can pick up interference from a variety of household devices.

But there is no reason a baby or young child can't "talk" in their sleep. Whatever talking is to them at that point. My son used to scream in his sleep. And you know the look babies give you if you wake them up, trust me if I disturbed him he was PO'd

Your 2yr. old is beginning to form words and when they're asleep they're very relaxed. Therefore she's just beign normal. Also there are cases that I've heard of where baby monitors pick up different frequencies.

At about 2 my daughter started doing that. She would roll around and even sit up and shake her head and say, "no mommy, no mommy", even with the same facial expression she has when I ask her to do something she doesn't want to do when she's awake. Priceless.

Yeah, 2 year olds can talk in their sleep. My 1 year old daughter talks while she sleeps, she even smiles in her sleep. It's amazing the thing they can do when they are sleeping.
