yep, we here in Canada have no politicians with the guts to make it safe both ways
we will accept your murderers, rapists, terrorists and whatever else you or any other country have as bad apples and then complain our streets are getting unsafe like everywhere else.
Canadians need to be just a little less trustworthy.

Actually, you do NOT need one to get from Canada into the U.S. by land or sea, only by air. This is scheduled to change in Jan 2008, or later, time not yet set.

However, once the passport laws by land and sea go into effect, Canada is likely to also require one, even though this is a U.S. law affecting the U.S. They already ask for one frequently at the border going into Canada ... but say nothing if you don't have one.
