I'm new to the Mustang thing, but the 8 cylinder seems a bit underpowered at just 215hp. There's got to be an easy and quick way of unlocking a lot of horsepower on this monster motor. Any suggestions?

Depends on how much money you want to spend and how much power you want to add on. The quickest cheapest and best way to add a decent amount of power that will help out your engine is a short ram intake (automatic tranny) or a sold air intake (manual tranny). the short ram add about 4 to 8 horsepower and the cold air intake add up to 15 horsepower depending on the cars engine quality. After this i owuld change the throttle body increase it in size cahnge the intake manifold and port-match the manifold. All of these upgrades are pretty inexpensize and add more power then you may believe because these all increase the amount of air flowing to the engine and are essential before you can add such bigger upgrades as turbos and superchargers nos kits etc.
AEM makes the BEST intakes.
Computer chips are also great ways to add even more power

First, keep in mind TORQUE is what pushes you back in your seat when you mash the gas. HP is what gives you top speed. The 94 Stanger has 285ft/lbs of torque, which is pretty decent.

As far as CHEAP goes, the best bet is probably a K&N high-flow air intake system. An entire kit can be bought for less than $350 and typically gives 8 to 16 HP. They actually got 30hp with a 2003 Stanger. It even comes with a "horsepower gaurantee."

Something else to consider is MAYBE an exhaust system, but all that's really going to do is give you bettwe flow of exhaust. This can actually HURT hp in some cars, as the backpressure is reduced to a point that the engine was designed for.

One that works pretty well is to reprogram your car's computer. I can't remember the name of the company that makes them, (saw it on Horsepower TV) but by simply hooking up this device, setting the specs to the way you drive, and reprogramming your computer, they got about 50 more horsepower out of it. The device was about $150 . Many cars come from the factory with mild settings. They consider fuel consumption, and around-town driving and program the car for that. I would REALLY recommend this ifyou get an air intake system. If you're bringing in more air, then you can bring in more FUEL, so reprogramming the chip can make a HUGE difference!

Adjust timing from stock (8-10) to 13-14 degrees, install a cold air intake kit, bigger throttle body and spacer, headers and a 2 1/2 inch cat-back exhaust system, replace stock catalytic converters with high flow ones, install 3.55 or 3.73 gears depending on trans, or just add a supercharger or a nitrous kit. Don't piss away money on a crappy chip....after you get done modding it, take it to a performance shop that uses a chassis dyno to help build a custom tune up for your vehicle.

easy and cheep are rare for engine upgrades, your just looking for trouble there. an often overlooked and rock solid performance gain is found by swapping out your rear differential for a 4:11 gear set. it has the same effect as adding nearly 150hp to the engine, without the extra stress.
its a must for drag racing and would cost less than $300 if you can install it yourself. a mechanic could do it in less than 2hrs.

The biggest bang for the buck hands down is to put a lower gear ratio in the rear end. Any good hot rod shop or transmission shop should be able to set it up for you.

the easiest and cheapest way would be to buy a chip from venom, go to www.summitracing.com i think there something like $230.00 and improve your horsepower by 25% thats the cheapest way, otherwise you can do varios different things to gain more ponies if you have the money.
