Grey's Papaya - $1.00 - for $2.99 you can get two delicious hot dogs and a fresh tropical juice drink (papaya, mango, coconut, pina colada, etc.). The mustard, relish, sauerkraut, onions are free. (Ketchup is for tourists only - New Yorkers put mustard on hotdogs and ketchup on burgers)

I don't know the cost of a dirty water dog because I don't eat them. They are sold by licensed sidewalk vendors from an umbrella cart. They are boiled and sit in the same water all day. Where do the sellers of the dirty water dogs go to the bathroom you ask? This footage has been shown over and over and over and people still buy the hotdogs. They urinate in the street, don't wash their hands, hold the bun in their hands while they take the hotdog out of the water, and take your money and give you change with their filthy hands - ewwww!

At the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park ,a Chicago Dog -vienna all-beef dog on a poppy seed bun, drag it throught topped with lettuce, tomato, sport peppers, green peppers, pickles, onion, neon relish, cucumber, celery salt and mustard is $3.25.

At Crif Dogs on St Mark's Place in the East Village, the hotdogs start at $2.00.

I went to NY this year and had a hot dog for $1 dollar at Gray's Papaya. The relish was sat at the side for you to add to if you wanted. Fried onions might have cost a little more to add but I can't remember.

It was great munching a hot dog and watching New Yorkers whizz past.
