If you live in a house, that's what happens. You have to take quick showers or get a bigger water heater.

The obvious answer is that you need a larger hot water tank or a gas, on demand tank. Easier than that though would be to reset the thermostat on the water heater to a higher temp so you can mix more cold with the hot to get the temp you want for your shower and use less hot water at a time. It should last longer that way.

It could definately be you need a larger water heater. You might want to have your parents check on the settings of it also. Make sure your water heater is insulated too, and not outside in a shed like room, or up against an outer wall. This will cause the water to not heat properly - causing less hot water and a higher bill since it's constantly trying to heat all the water.

You obviously need a bigger hot water heater. First you should not be in the shower that long but since you are and the water gets cold it means your hot water heater isn't big enough to handle that long of a shower besides your parents showering.

TWENTY MINUTES!!!??? Are you trying to become a lobster? Most water heaters in the 30 to 40 gallon range will run out of hot water in less than 20 minutes.

The solution may be to get an electric water heating system that uses coils to heat a flow of water that does not need to be stored in a tank ahead of time.

20 minutes!! Take a "ship shower." They used to do this on ships during WWII to conserve water on board.

Get in the shower and get yourself completely wet. Turn the water OFF. Wash your hair, clean your body and when you are totally scrubbed clean, turn the water back on and rinse. That way, you will have warm water.

Really, 20 minutes is too long in the shower.
