On my Mossberg ATR 100 BA-RH(bolt action-right hand) .30-06, I have a Simmons 3-9x50mm Blazer scope. Price: $50+tax @ Walmart. On my Ruger Mini30, a BSA 3-9x40mm. Price: Free, it came with the rifle, although I would guess around $30-$40.
Leupold is the best but they may run you higher than $250.
Bushnell is just as excellent and will more than likely be with in your price range.
Look at CheaperThanDirt, as advised by Old Fuzz, or go consult with your local firearms dealer.

If you can afford the extra $50, get a Leupold VX-II. They are high quality scopes with great, clear optics. VX-II are kind of the standard scopes everyone has. They're quite popular. You have a choice of 40mm and 50mm objective lenses for the 3-9x.

If you don't want a VX-II, look at Bushnell's line. Nikon Prostaffs are known to be great scopes for the money.
I'd recomment trying to get a scope with click adjustments as they are usually more accurate adjustments. Not all scopes under $300 have them. The VX-II does.

Bushnell is a decent, moderately priced scope. Check out Simmons as well. I believe both are available in the power you want.
Check www.cheaperthandirt.com or www.midwayusa.com
Both outfits carry a pretty good line of scopes in your price range.

If new at your price range try Bushnell elite 320 series.
If used then you may find anything on geebay, including those great old Hendsolt scopes.
Best of luck.
