The wedding is August 18th. He just proposed a few days ago so we're just now planning.

Should we bother sending Save-the-Dates? When should we send the invitations? Some people say three months ahead of time but others say, "There's no way I'd remember that! Send it a month before." What do you think?

Send the invitations about 6 weeks before the wedding...they will get them about 5 weeks before....if you're needing RSVP's back for the reception, I'd send them out a week earlier. You can use word of mouth to as many people as possible before then and when they get their invitation, it will serve as a formal reminder. That way this kinda covers both options. I don't think it's necessary to send save the dates for a wedding that's already less than 6 months away. This would be most common for weddings that were planned for close to a year out! Save yourself some money on the save the date cards!

Congratulations and have a blast planning your wedding!

Wow, you're going to plan a whole wedding in 4 months? Good luck with that. My wedding is August 25th and i've been planning for over a year...

I'm sending my invitations out in May, 3 months ahead.

Wow girl! You don't have a lot of time...but you can do it just don't stress. I got engaged in Feb and getting married in Sept and I thought there is no way I can do this....but you can! Just don't stress out! I am over halfway done...

About the save the dates...I wouldn't worry about them since the wedding is in August. and its almost May. If you have out of town guests just call them and let them know the details that way they can plan ahead. I would say send the invites about 4-6 weeks before the ceremony. That is the normal time frame to send them. Good Luck Girl and Congrats!!

There still might be time for you to send save the dates now- just reminding your guests of the wedding date. Then i would send out the invites about 1 month before. Sending it too early then the guests will just leave it on the table and forget to rsvp. That will make you go crazy!

I would send a save-the -date. My friend is getting married in July, they just picked the date, so she made some save-the-dates at home and sent them out to give people a heads up. I would send out the invited 6-8 weeks in advance.

I would call the people that you want to invite that will have to travel. Other than that I would send the invitations out about 6 weeks prior. I wouldn't send save the dates unless you know of something that might go on during that time.

Don't need save the date cards. Send out the invitations six to eight weeks before the wedding. Find out the date the caterer needs the absolute final number of those attending, then add a few days for yourselves because sometimes you have to phone people who don't rsvp.

Congratulations!
There is an extended family wedding in Oct. That family is calling us all up to "save the date" .
I think you should too. Yours is earlier. That way the out of town people can book in advance and have options for good deals on tickets.
May not be same for those in town. But I'd like it.

Send invitations a month and half earlier at least.

You should do Save-the-dates 3 months before the wedding to allow for the "well planned" family and friends to show up to your wedding... also for the people taking flights and making hotel reservations, it can be cheaper if done ahead of time...

then send the invitations a month and half ahead of the wedding. this'll take care of the "forgetful" people... :)
