Right under my eyes... darker in color than rest of my face. I know something is wrong with this excessive sleeping pattern without the strength all day. What kind of doctor should I see if I decide to find out the cause of it? I am thinking of depression.

Yes. I forgot to mention that I dream every night and each dream is very detailed (touch, sensation, feeling... ). I dream every night and have been 30 years. I will go see a doctor very soon. My body is in OK shape, but I don't do execise often.

Have you had a sleep study done? You could suffer from sleep apnea which makes for a very non-restful nights sleep. People wake up many times during the night and tehy don't even realize it. It could be anything really. Talk to your doctor.

If you suffer from insomnia, you are likely to feel tired in the morning and that causes dark circles under the eyes. If this has been a pattern for 10 years, you should visit a doctor. A general practioner should also be fine, unless you have depression specific symptoms.

Also, it's important to sleep without any worries, pray, meditate, listen to good music. Exercise and good diet helps too.

Good luck, and God bless you.

Start with your medical MD (a family one) he or she can listen to your ailments and give you a physical.
Perhaps you have anemia too which can cause you to be so tired and have circles.

My advice until you see an MD is rest more.
And eat better, water and take a multi vitamin with iron.
Perhaps exercising - even a walk every day for 20 minutes will help relax you- before you go to bed do things to help you relax and make you sleep better (read, a warm bath, milk, tv (non stressful shows).

Why would you jump to mental illness??

You are probably physically ill. Sleep apnea comes to mind as the first thing to check out if you are actually sleeping for 8 hours or more, but not being refreshed by it.

If you are not sleeping, you need to check out other things. There are many physical causes of insomnia.

And please realize that insomnia, if that's what you have, is not a disease or a diagnosis. It is a SYMPTOM only. Your doctor needs to get to the bottom of what is CAUSING the insomnia.

First see your doctor to have blood tests, glucose levels, thyroid checked.(there are probably other test they will need to do as well, I can't think of them all right now) You will want to make sure that there isn't something else going on. Many conditions can often mimic and even cause depression.

Make an appointment with your regular doctor before you go self diagnosing. There may be something wrong with you that a physician can heal.
