I was a reading an online article about how the Pope has said that even children who die without being baptized do go to heaven. I myself was baptized when I was an infant and have always been very spiritual and firmly believe in God. Does a person who was baptized as child have to be baptized again or is once enough?

Yes they are. Baptism is a sacrament and is only to be done once.

Fuddles: Jesus is bigger than your past, no matter what your track record is. God can and will forgive anything.

As for the question, you can be baptized once, or as many times as you feel the need. True baptism is about washing away the past and being reborn in Christ. Doesn't make sense for a baby. Jesus was baptized as an adult.

Baptism is not being saved. Being saved is admitting you are a sinner and confessing that you believe Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior.

This is a great questioned once asked by my mother. So she decided at an older age to be baptized again. The baptism is a commandment of God. So important that Jesus himself followed this commandment. Matthew 3:13.

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. Its a commandment but does it determine your salvation? No.
"What came first? The chicken or the egg" Well for us what comes first the baptism or salvation. Salvation. You can be baptized and not saved if you have not accepted Christ as your personal Savior. Simply put baptism does not save or change you. Mark 16;16 "He that believe and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believe not shall be damned."

John 3;16 is the fundamental basis of our salvation.

Being baptised as a baby does not confess publicly that you believe in Christ Jesus. At that age you cannot understand right or wrong. The act of Baptism does not save. Believe in Jesus and you will be saved. Jesus said, "you must be born again."

The contrast is the old man. The old man is depraved and corrupt. New man is righteous and holy. The new man has the possibility of leading a life of complete victory over sin.
The old man has no alternative but to commit sin. He is the slave of his own corrupt, fallen nature.

This doesn't mean that we will never sin again. But it does mean that our sinful nature has changed and we eventually hate sin. We love the sinner. We hate the sin.

Stay in the word of God my friend and the Holy Spirit will continually purify and refine you. I would believe one baptism in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit is enough, but if you have any doubt ask that it be done again.

What you cannot do without is a relationship with Christ Jesus and believing in what He did for us on the cross and the resurrection thereafter. We cannot reject Christ and receive eternal life.

Baptism is the outward sign of the inward Grace of salvation. It is proffered to ALL regardless of when or where they may be. It can be accepted by anyone, including infants whose acceptance is done through adult sponsors, traditionally parents and/or godparents. But baptism may be acquired via other means.
There is Baptism of Blood, or martyrdom (not often these days) wherein a convert not yet fully in membership in the Body of Christ nonetheless is killed for his/her faith.
There is Baptism of the Soul wherein an individual who dies never having heard of Christ, meets Him and gets a chance to say "yes" or "no" to Jesus' "Come, follow Me." This would include ALL infants who die before being formally baptized. Remember, it's the SOUL, not the intellect or the educational abilities or the experience that's being invited. Even the newest can respond to the love of Love Himself, and I betcha they do!
And yes, once is enough!

One baptism is enough. Most Christians are baptized as infants. Study the word of God, attend Church, partake of the Eucharist, follow the commands of Jesus to love and care for others. These things are much more important than being baptized a second time.

This is the way that I believe. When you are baptize, u are not being saved. Being saved is meaning that you have the Holy Ghost. In order to have the Holy Ghost you must seek for it. Another term for having the Holy Ghost is "Being borned again" Read ST. John chapter 3 Verse 1 and read about the 1st 6-7 verses. Then read Acts chapetr verse 1 and read about 6 to 7 verses down. I hope I helped.

Children who die without being baptized go to Heaven it was my understanding that we are all born into this world as sinners. So hmmm...I dont know. I think once is enough unless they feel a need to be rebaptized. Its nice to see that you are a spiritual person who firmly believes in God. Good question.

All children will go to heaven. Once they are old enough to understand, they would need to be saved to go to heaven. Baptism has nothing to do with going to heaven. The Bible says that everyone who has accepted Jesus as their savior should be baptised as an outward sign to other people that you have been saved.

I believe that there is an age of accountability. Once you know and understand right from wrong and you understand what God is about, you should be re-baptized. That may not be Biblical, it's just my belief.

Christ was baptized by John, his cousin.
only as a formality, not because he sinned.
