Mine wasn't very good the next year, though it was just in a cake box. From what I've heard/found out, it needs to be stored air tight or pretty close, if not it will pick up funky tastes from sitting around a year, even if it is in a freezer.

Our caterer actually boxed and wrapped our top layer for us, so all we did when we got home was put it in the freezer. It was still just as good a year later than it was that day. My friends wedding cake though did not fare so well, but I think her caterer didn't wrap the cake and protect it as well, so it tasted like a combination of things in the freezer...yuck!

How good can something taste after being frozen for a year?? I don't even want to imagine. Better be safe than sorry, get a new cake just for the 2 of you!

Yes!! If you wrap it well, it will definitely taste just as good on your first anniversary. The only annoyance is that it takes up so much room in your freezer for that first year. LOL! :-)

Wrap it in plastic wrap and then heavy duty foil then freeze. On the first anniversary, let it come to room temperature before slicing.

Yes most people do, wrap it up tight like you said and freeze it. It is a very special thing to do on your anniversary. Just dont forget to thaw it. Good luck!

Mine was still just as good ...one year later. I am a true believer that you get what you pay for. I wrapped mine in foil, then plastic wrap and then put it in a baggie. We did eat it...kids included..on our first anniversary. It brought back wonderful memories of a wonderful day. Best wishes on your pending nuptials.

I don't care what anyone says, I'm not doing that. My cousin's bakery makes the couple an anniversary cake for her 1st anniversary so couples don't have to eat year old cake.

Be sure to freeze your cake first, then wrap it very good.If you don't freeze it first you may mess up the icing on the cake esp. the flowers. Also after wrapping put it in an air tight container.

I was told by the woman doing our wedding cake that if its wrapped right it will be good in a year. She said you can't overwrap it - wrap it in plastic, then paper, then more paper, then more plastic...you don't want any air getting in there or it will get freezer burn. I think its a cute tradition, and I don't think I'll forget about mine.
