Its possible for someone to be allergic to anything. This is one phenomenon that the medical field doesn't fully understand. Whats important is to note the signs and symptoms of allergies. Generally a person will have itchy, watery eyes, sinus problems, and sneezing. If a person has a severe allergic reaction, they can break out in hives and even stop breathing. Many people get allergies confused because they think if something makes their stomach hurt or something, that their allergic to it. So if your husband doesn't have any of these symptoms, then he is more than likely not allergic.

He's not the only one.
I used to be highly allergic to dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc...just basically any pet that has fur. There are different factors that make people allergic. Sometimes it's just the pet's hair, other times it's the actual dander from the pet. Whenever I was around them, my throat would swell shut, my eyes would water (or swell, or both!), I would get hives, and I would sneeze violently.
I've changed my diet and I no longer have the symptoms.
Maybe he should go on shots (?).

It is possible. If he has symptoms like sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose, rash, fatiue, cough, congestion or wheezing that could be a sign he's allergic. The good news is it could also just be the bedding. (If you use pine shavings or other dusty bedding that could be the culprit.) If he is allergic you can usually still keep your pet, just don't clean the cage when he's around and keep the guinea pig in a separate room. You can check out the ASPCA site and links for additional information. Good luck!

Yes, it is possible to be allergic to guinea-pigs.

Get your husband to try a few OTC antihistamines like cetirizine or loratidine. If they don't help the allergy then you're going to have to choose between the guinea-pig and the husband :)

Seriously, if antihistamines don't work then your only other option is to keep the animal in a location where it and your husband never come in contact.

Cheers,
