Look on this link to the NON-CHRISTIAN SOURCES. I have not read the whole thing, but it seems interesting. The entire article is likely not a positive one for Christianity though.

There is not any historical doubt that a man named Jesus existed. He was a man who caused a stir, was allegedly performing miracles and was crucified and later his followers started a new religion. That is the historical account. The rest is in the Bible.
The most well known source for Jesus' life is Josephus, a Jewish historian around 30AD I think. He wrote a history of the Jewish people all the way back to the beginning, and continued it through his lifetime. He is a Jew, so He doesn't believe in Jesus as the Christ, but chronicles what he heard about Him as a man and what people said about Him.
If you really want to know, there is a man named Lee Strobel that has been investigating the issue, using the same methods that are accepted by historians and other kinds of experts. He wrote a book called "The Case for Christ" He shows the evidence that he found, and he was an athiest, so he wasn't biased in his research to find positive proof, he was actually looking to see if there was any evidence, just as your question asks. If you truly seek the knowledge, I highly recommend this book.

The historian Robert Graves wrote a historical account of The Emperor Claudius's life, which was turned into a wonderful TV series in the 70"s. Claudius made references to a man that was executed and had followers-the story was exactly the same as the story of Jesus but of course did not refere to the man as Jesus but as Joshua ben Joseph-which most likely was his real name. The Bible consists of translations from many ancient documents going back to the first century that give accounts of that time. Although some vary in their accounts they give basically the same story.

Actually, the Bible was written before, during, and just after his death by people who witnessed the events of his life. Some parts were written many years after, but they still line up with the teachings from thousands of years before.
Even though the Bible has been translated many times, there is no book as old that still matches the original context. Some spellings and inevitable language tweaks have occurred, but the message hasn't changed in 5,000 years.
The historical accuracy of Old Testament writings has been proven by archeologists throughout time, and continue to be proven today. New Testament history is even easier to prove. Just turn on the History channel on your local cable network.
It's up to you whether to believe the miracles were actual miracles. That's called faith. But yes, he lived. That has never been disputed by reputable historians.

the Jewish historian Josephus published his work Antiquities of the Jews. The extant copies of this work, which all derive from Christian sources, even the recently recovered Arabic version, contain two passages about Jesus
this is not the bible but from a historic point of view

Do you really think that everyone in the damn world would have heard and believed that he existed if he didn't. Go tell people about an imaginary friend and see how many generations believe you without proof. Jesus was without a doubt real otherwise you wouldn't be hearing about him...How much do you hear about Zues or Big Foot? Think you can convince millions they are real?

of direction, in case you're taking out Christian writers, its like asserting, "are you able to show Julius Ceasar existed with out making use of Roman writings?" There are a lot of guy or woman writings approximately Jesus written interior a hundred years of His dying. additionally, Pliny the extra youthful, Tacitus and Suetonius (all non-Christians) wrote approximately Jesus. the suitable non-Christian writing of Christ from his term, even although, is thru Josephus, the Jewish historian. He took painstaking efforts in making precise histories. He wrote in straight forward terms slightly approximately Jesus and others reported contained in the NT.

An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign --Jesus Christ.
Be careful for he that seeketh signs shall see signs, but not unto salvation. Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and call things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.
