It might be easier to set up a list of chores to do for the whole week and get a weekly allowance. So maybe do things like the dishes, laundry, sweeping, vacuming, take out the garbage, etc. A good weekly allowance for all these things might be between $15.00-25.00 per week.

p.s. It is nice to see a young person happy and willing to help out their parents. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders!

I love your question! I hope that my daughter grows up to be as nice and thoughtful as you! Good girl!

Here are a list of chores that I would give you, and the dollar amounts:

1) Take out the trash $1/day
2) Clean the kitchen countertop $2
3) Help put groceries away, all the way from the car $5
4) Dust all over the house $5
5) Help with laundry $5
6) Feed the pets and clean their bowls/cages $5
7) Clean out the car and use warm/wet rag to dust inside the car and clean the dashboard $5
8) Wash the outside of the car and windows $10
9) Gardening/weeding $5
10) Water the plants daily $5

Does that give you some ideas?

Good luck! You are doing a good thing!

I really like that you are thinking about your moms finances.
Can I make a suggestion? Since it's summer and you won't be in school, how about shopping for clothes somewhere less expensive like wal-mart or target? The clothes only have to last one season and they have a good selection of cute stuff.
When it's time to go back to school I bet you go back to the mall and shop for your school wardrobe anyway so how about conserving a little for the summer|?

You don't say how old you are or what you do to earn an allowance, if anything. But your idea is a good one. If you're referring to chores you can do at home to earn more clothes money, then you should sit down with your mom and work out a fee schedule. My kids earned extra money by doing extra chores in addition their regular ones, but we worked out in advance what each chore would be worth. I had the cleanest windows in town when they wanted to buy something.
If you're talking about outside work like babysitting for the neighbors, you should ask other girls to see what they charge.

are you too young to get a part-time job? maybe a paper route?

as far as things around the house:
mow the lawn $10
clean the bathroom $5
do the dishes $10/week
clean out the garage or organise a closet or basement $10-50 (depending on the workload)

I really think you should look for jobs in the community, like dog walking, lawn mowing, babysitting ect

Thats very grown up of you. Besides going to the mall walmart and target have really nice cloths now. Have you ever been to a consignment shop. I find cloths in there with tags still hanging on them for my son. All the name brands to. And they always have much more in the girls section. And they go for next to nothing.

You could babysit for someone and about getting paid would depend on how long you babysit for. you could walk peoples's dogs, mow the lawn, wash people's car or even clean house for your mom.
