Don't worry it will get there within this week or the next... Remember when you mail it in, they take longer to process your return they usually do all the e-files first... (which is the best way to do it and then have them direct deposit into your account) When you mail it in they have to recieve it then process the paper work and that takes about 6-7 weeks sometimes... that's why it is better to e-file because it take 3-4 weeks for the state and 4-5 weeks from the federal from the day that it is transmited... If you still have not recieved the refund by next week you can go to the IRS website and click on the link that says WHERE'S MY REFUND?... Hope this helps....

You're still within the "window." A mailed return with a paper check refund takes 4 - 6 weeks.
The closer to the deadline that you file, the longer it will take as many folks wait until the last minute and this slows down processing at the IRS Service Centers.

The link below is the IRS page to check the status of your return. One month is fast for a mailed return with a mailed refund. It takes a minimum of 8 days after your return is accepted by the IRS computer before they cut the check. Mailed returns must be manually entered after the IRS receives them. Any time after mid-march, there is a significant backlog of returns to enter.

It could just be a backlog of Federal Returns needing to be processed. Have you tried checking www.irs.gov and clicking on "Where's my Refund?"? Sometimes that will give you an idea of when your check was mailed or whether there was an error on your return that is delaying your check.

You will receive it shortly. There isn't necessarily a direct correlation between when two returns were mailed and the refund check being sent. Did one of you opt for direct deposit?

If you mail them, it usually takes over a month to get your refund. Sounds like your brother really got lucky, unless he efile rather than mailing it - refunds are much quicker for efiles returns.

That's not a long time. If you want it back sooner, you need to file very early. I filed in late January and had it back in early February.
