The political powers in El Paso don't want the law enforced. They are paid by the drug cartels to not only look the other way but to help facilitate the criminals with their crimes. The entire city government needs to be charged with aiding and abetting. They are criminals just as much as the ones who supply and sell the drugs.
If they don't enforce the federal laws then arrest then.

I think they State should send in the State Police and enforce the law; and the funds from the city withheld until they agree to enforce the law. It won't take long for them to get with the program.
Or, they could be offered the opportunity to leave the country and become part of Mexico....I have no problem with that. Call it the great El Paso Annexation.

I would return to El Paso, my hometown, and set them straight if I wasn't employed worldwide making my fortune. The sad thing about Texas is there are more and more LIBERALS creeping into the state. Most are confined to the enclave of Austin sucking Ronnie Earle's toes, but a few get out unfortuantely. A lot of Mexicans surely work in and around El Paso, both legally and not. Some are good people, but whenever I used to go to Juarez across the border, I had too may problems with their crooked so-called police. Those SOBs should be deported to Gunatanamo with pther terrorists, or better, served up to me.

Will the El Paso chief of police not enforce other federal law?
When a law enforcement office picks and choses what laws he will and will not enforce, he quits becoming a law enforcement officer since when he took the job he swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States and that of Texas!

Yes, how many times during the Clinton era did we hear that no one was about the law. Any one that refuses to enforce our laws should not get one penny. If it hurts illegal aliens so be it. Why in the world are we as a country giving a pass to illegal aliens just because some excuse their behavior by saying " they are only coming to work not to break the law. Does not sneaking across our borders without permission, using forged or stolen document constitute breaking the law. Even if you do not consider these crimes, I am sure that someone will cite the statics that belie that statement.

This seems to be the sign of the times. It is intense beyond most areas of the US as it IS right on the border.
It seems apparent to me that the illegal crowd and their supporters within our communities, have either taken over the governments there or it becomes clearer and cleared that our government and it's authorities want to do things their own way, possible the way that is best for those running the show and their benefactors, rather than to eforce the will of the people.
So much for those of us who would trust Democracy.
Upon considerable pondering, I beleive we have arrived at a time in the USA wherein Amer. citizens are either too busy trying to pay bills or too ignorant/uninterested to really vote for and care about their own communities and that they are run properly by our electees.
Too much sizzling and not enough/any good steak.
The USA is in a great fall and it has been caused by apathy, misinformation and confusion and a world gone too busy/fast to be handled with care and good effect by anyone decently trying to do the right thing.
Those that are good and care for the best for all, in the long run are being bulldozed and buried by those that want only for themselves and their own best interests.
To heck with all others and the best for the country.
We want "OURS." and we will do what we have to to get it.

if that's what it's going to take to control the illegal invasion, then it's great. i lived in el paso in the early 90s, it's beautiful there. el paso had a lot of people who was out of work. i met a american mexican family while there. the woman who's husband served in the army passed away. she is from texas. she said she was moving out of texas to las vegas. she said the illegal invasion was getting out of hand there. it's just not white americans who are against the illegals. there are blacks and american mexicans who are against the illegal invasion.
