In the open country with outhouses and rattlesnakes versus an ugly urban slum with violent gangs and crack addicts. Which would I choose?

some of the answers from our local Y/A morons reek with such stupidity that they are almost laughable. immediate thumbs down for any poster who has a decent word for Mexico, this is just plain pathetic. ignorance is bliss, i guess. let me give some facts to all of you little pimple faced twits who sit in your mothers basement (where you will always live) all day and stare at yahoo till you are glassy eyed. i was born and raised in the united states, lived here my entire life. i have served in either law enforcement or law enforcement related positions my entire life. i have watched this country steadily deteriorate every year, thanks to drugs, rampant drug related criminal activity in our streets, total lack of respect for laws, rules and authority. i have watched the greed and lust for the almighty dollar grip people until they were nearly sub-human, the crooked politicians and corporate executives who lust for power as they lie cheat and steal their way up the ladder while trampling on everyone beneath them. i have watched the total destruction of family values and disrespect for anyone who dares stand up for what is right. i have watched our peaceful institutions of learning turning into war zones from gangs and gang related activity. our public school systems are little more than sewers filled with violent foul mouthed bi- products of dysfunctional families. lets also not forget to mention the total lack of morals in a system where it is somewhat acceptable for a 6Th grader to be pregnant. or the oppressive tax system that openly discriminates against the poor and middle class while giving increasingly larger tax breaks to the wealthy. i could go on for hours but i wont. soon this country and its problems will no longer affect me or my family. i have fought enough wars on the streets of this country and seen way too much for my years. i have 4 children whom i love far too much to allow their minds to be poisoned by the value system of this country. iam in the process of building a beautiful 5 bedroom home in baja norte Mexico, a home that i could never afford here in the Sodom and Gomorrah land of the free. my children will be educated in Mexican schools that are far superior to the smut pits in this country. does Mexico have problems ?...HELL YES, but they also still have many things that this country has lost forever, such as, strong family values, respect for god and country, respect for their elderly and some of the most decent kind hearted people on the planet who judge people for whats in their heart (not whats in their wallet) Mexican girls actually date, fall in love and marry men based on their integrity and values (not their careers, financial security or what type of car they drive. so i have finally decided to follow the advice i so freely dispersed to others (back in my ignorant, naive youth full years)America, love it or leave was my motto. well....its time to say goodbye. but i will still hold dear to my heart the America i grew up in and loved so dearly as a youth. all of you sheeple can remain here with your ignorant libtard/contard banter, your greedy sex and drug crazed lives, your war pig attitudes and your lust for power racial prejudice, and cult like following of the almighty buck. to the rest of you guys, come on by the beach and look me up. we can sip a margarita and reminisce about how good America once was, then i will help you hunt for a home in sunny Mexico....

Well Mexico isn't all farmland, there are towns, cities, and everything from the richest cities to the poorest pueblos. It's not all country and it depends where the people are from. The difference is that even if they are poor in the United States, they are getting paid for their hard work, more than they could in Mexico. Mexico has a corrupt government that doesn't give the people as much as they deserve. It is different for many people and there are many different situations. The corrupt government doesn't only hurt the people by not getting paid but the law enforcement is bad too. Not every situation is on leaving a peaceful subsistence farm in Mexico to live in a crappy American inner city so it really depends. For the most part, the money is in the United States and money does everything in this world now. That is why the government is corrupt, they take the money from the people and there are more opportunities in the United States aside from money...but yeah it just matters on the situation of the person.

And to the answerers...Mexican does not equal illegal, the person that asked the question didnt even mention illegal immigration and not ever undocumented immigrant is Mexican so stop being so brainless. Loretta, what you are doing is racially profiling people, you cannot tell if a person is undocumented or not and from every one of your questions I can tell you just have a thing against Mexicans, not illegal immigration. I live in Chicago, Illinois (Little Village aka La Villita) and it is the most cultural neighborhood there is. It's people like you that are trying to take the Mexican neighborhoods out of there like they are trying to do with Pilsen. Well guess what? It isn't going to happen and if it does this country should stop calling itself the land of immigrants because nobody does anything to Chinatown, Greektown, Beverly, Wickerpark. They only try to take out La Villita and Pilsen but it doesn't matter because both neighborhoods have flourished and are better than ever. Well not Pilsen because they are trying to make it white [neighborhoods in Chicago are very racially segregated] and take out Mexicans but it isn't working. We've helped make our neighborhoods good by ourselves without asking help from the government and they're not going to take us or our hard work out like that.

You've never lived in a subsistence farm in Mexico or Central America before.

The houses I used to work in were one room with dirt floor, a fire (no stove), thatched roof with smoke holes and clapboard that didn't overlap and let the environment in. There was no indoor plumbing. Then of course there is the day day out diet of tortilla and beans and chile. I'd totally choose the inner city any day. Oh and both are equally as dangerous.

Edit: I've lived and worked in both. In rural Mexico, instead of crack addicts, people are addicted to glue. Creates very similiar effects to a crack addict. The slums are just as ugly in both areas. Oh and there is usually no medical resoures should you get bit by that rattlesnake.

heck, if i have to fight to live then i may as well live in the south where the snakes and wild rabbits are. at least i have a really good chance at surviving in the south. hey wait a sec. i did do just that. i was born and raised in Chicago Illinois, i got the heck out of there. got tired of the illegal invasion and gangs taking over. and yes i have come up on copper heads and water moccasins, guess what, I'm still alive. i have lived here since 1998, i have killed 3 poisonous snakes.

For the same reason that you wouldn't ever consider to leave your crappy American City to live in the peaceful ranch of any country, and ruin your children's future. Let me explain this: everybody has the right to search for a better life and better future for themselves and future generations.

Greed and jealousy. Yes they are far worse off in material good in rural Mexico. Study shows material good does not make a person happy. THe happiest people in the US are the Amish. All though a more recent study disagree. Hapiness is relative. If you see someone better off, you become unhappy. I found the happiest person in my family is my Grandmother. SHe is also the poorest. Its that she has different values than the rest of us. Family makes her happy.

MONEY! American poor does not equal Mexican poor. You can make a good living in the inner city, and that be ten times what you would make in Mexico.

Money , Money , Money , Money !!!! Money makes the world go round. You can make more money in America per hour than in Mexico.Even if you only work at 7/11.You can make loads of money selling crack or marijuana anyway. I'm not saying that they all do , but some Latinos do sell drugs and use drugs , but people of all races do.Why wouldn't they? if your are smart and in need of cash and willing to sell your soul selling drugs is a good way to make quick cash.

Because of all America has to offer, including better schools/education, welfare, SSDI, Section 8, Medicaid/Medicare, electricity, actual floors instead of just dirt ones, houses made not made out of old garage door, indoor plumbing and safe drinking water on tap, better paying jobs and numerous other opportunities.

I totally agree with you I don't know what many of these people think. In this country If you don't know the language and don't have an education you can't hardly make it. Personally I wouldn't live my homeland and risk my life if I would be in that situation.
