Some people claim it's not true. I'd like to know why they think this? Proof?

I just finished this book by Micheal Crichton called 'State of Fear' and its all about Global Warming and both sides. He put a lot of footnotes in it with scientific proof. It was a really good book, U should read it. It'll tell u about how the government puts fear in their citizens to become safer and more aware of the world (like 9/11 and Global Warming)

Global warming is not a hoax. But there are way too many assumptions that have gone into the calculations that are just that assumptions. Proving global warming is in the most miniscule details and there is not enough data to prove or disprove it. Certainly burning fossil fules for centuries may have had some effect on the environment. But that doesn't mean that the predictions of the coming disasters are anywhere near correct. Take the number one spokes person for it Al Gore. If he really believed in the dangers of gloobal warming why would his carbon footprint be hundreds of times as large as the rest of us. I am an engineer and from the conversations I have had with scientifically trained people the basic question seems to be if we can't predict the weather with great accuracy a week ahead of time, how good can we be at predicting it in a century?

People suggest that global warming is hoax for two main reasons. First, they do not understand science or science theory and second, if they admit that it is true, it will force them to drastically alter their lifestyle.

There are tremendous amounts of scientific evidence that point toward anthropogenic climate change. Is it a fact? No. But the evidence continues to mount in favor of it. Do we know exactly how climate change will play out? No.

But it comes down to this. If the climate change prediction are correct, or even partially correct, it makes a lot of sense to try and do something about it sooner or later.

If they are wrong, what have we lost? Most likely nothing, and we will have gained a more efficient use of natural resources.

Critics often point to he uncertainties in science to "prove" global warming isn't real. This of course is ridiculous. scientist understand and account for uncertainty all the time. If these same standards were applied to drug companies, they wouldn't be multi-billion industries and they would never get a drug on the market. Yet, we seem willing to accept this uncertainty. and people call for more lenient standards all the time. The same is true for GMO's, and everything else that has science as its base.

If this was applied to global warming, we would all be driving on biodiesel and using solar power by decree of law.

I don't believe that that is what they really believe or know, but rather something they want or choose to think. I also think that there are people out there that will go out of their way to be ignorant. I, for myself, know very well where I stand, and I'm prepared. I won't be caught off guard like them, and maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. Let them be ignorant. Maybe the less ignorant will survive, and take over the earth. And the earth will then become a cleaner and better place to live for the people who respect the earth. People have survived ice ages before. Let's hope that the ones who deserve to live on this globe will be the ones next time. Hey, those republicans out there ought to like that, right. Survival of the fittest , and to hell with the other guy, right? Maybe they'll just get their wish this time, and they'll get to taste their own medicine. But, don't be fooled. Mother earth is still boss. Thank God for that. I can think of nothing graeter than our earth, the only thing that's really real. If I had to choose between this man made civilization and Gods good clean and beautiful nature, they can all keep their civilization, and good riddance too. There isn't a thing I'd miss, except my computer. And at least I wouldn't die from stress or a heart attack. We've created a hell for one another, people screwing each other over, lying and cheating, stealing and committing all kinds of moral wrong doing. people suing each other left and right. people living in constant fear of law suits etc. I wouldn't miss any of it. Think I'll move to Bhutan or something. I've stopped worrying about it, but I preach about things I think matters when I can, but I'm not going to let it destroy me. I think there will always be ignorant, belligerent, and lazy and indifferent people out there. They are not the ones that move mountains. In fact, they rarely become much, nor do they ever do anything great with their useless life. It's not how long you live that counts, but rather how MUCH you live. That's the difference between being ALIVE and dead. I see a lot of dead people walking around out there. I'm pity them.

Several reasons: The first is attack the proponents: since liberals like Al Gore are offering the global warming arguement, it must be a hoax since all they want to do is make a bigger government. Second: how could little old us do such a thing to the big old earth? Thats Rush Limbaugh. Third: I never froze my *** so much as I did last week. Gross global changes do not rule out unusual cold snaps. Then there are the "everything is a conspiracy" believers who think Hollywood has faked all the pictures you see or the aliens are pointing heat rays at us and we are all doomed anyway.

For those who are truly interested, here is a good lecture, that explains the bad science and politics behind global warming.
http://www.fcpp.org/main/media_file_wm.php?StreamID=536

I also suggest that people also view the power point simultaneously.

Watch the lecture, and see if his concerns have been answered to your satisfaction by the supporters, then decide for yourself. Only then can one claim to have made an educated decision.

Personally, supporters fail to answer my concerns. They keep harping the same point; all of the experts believe it (which is pure propaganda) then you should believe it to. So there is no need to question the science.

ONCE AGAIN....

Global Warming MEANS "World Wide Warming!" It is ONLY A Political Term = NOT based in Real Science!

The EARTH is covered by "Three Quarters WATER!" Basic Science, it takes ONE-Btu to raise One Cubic Centimeter ONE Degree Centigrade!

HOW many "Gazillion Cubic Centimeters are there ONLY on the Surface of Planet Earth COVERED by 3/4 Water?"

HOW many Btu's would it take TO RAISE THE SURFACE TEMPERATURE ONE DEGREE?

DO THE MATH!

And, were are the Million TEMPERATURE MEASURING SITES on the Many Oceans THAT TELL US THAT THE OCEAN TEMPERATURES ARE RISING? Not!

Oh yes, POLAR temperatures have varied LESS Than one degree in the past 100-Years. Noticed I said VARIED, = NOT RISEN!

Thanks, RR

The planet is BILLIONS of years old. There have been periods of great heat, great cold, volcanic eruptions, ice ages, meteor impacts, extinctions.

It is all part of the process. Stressing about it will not keep these natural processes from occurring. The temperature has gone up ONE DEGREE in the last hundred years, and Al Gore is running around like Chicken Little.

The dinosaurs were around for 60 million years and now they are gone. Humans will face their own extinction some day, and then new creatures will evolve and rise up. It would be interesting to be able to see that!

The planet has BILLIONS of years left to go.. stop stressing.

Man made global warming is a hoax. The geological history of the earth is plenty of history.

There is no proof. All they have is a lot of money given to them by the car industry so they won't have to pay the scientist and the factories to remake all cars to follow government protocol.
