The doomsayers are just living for Armageddon so they can wag their fingers and say "I told you so." It's ridiculous. All our lives will end soon enough, no need to want to hurry the end along.

A lot of these groups forbid any kind of pleasure, like dancing or secular music or drinking. They instill a lot of guilt and make a lot of rules. So that will make life less fun and interesting for their congregants right there.
Also, people see the bad in the world--the wars, the global warming, the endangered species. Before, it would have been the bubonic plague, the invasions, the kids not living to see age five. They forget about the good.

I'm with Red Queen on this one. The big generalization is that so many want to say "I told you so." And that is a horrible thing. It does not please God.
When we do as Jesus TOLD us to do - care for the sick, the lonely, the hungry, the thirsty - the end of days is utterly unimportant.
It also pains me greatly that these same folks who "look forward" to the end of days give this as their reason for destroying this planet. It is God's gift to us. Just like our lives. While they condemn people for what they feel is abusing their own lives - they feel quite free to abuse this planet.
God gave us dominion over it. Dominion does not mean dominate. It means govern. Govern means to be responsible for it.

Because here on Earth there is so much evil, violence, sadness, sorrow, regret, even slavery. There is so much evil that one can not find reasons to continue living. While some people have it easy, others have to endure the harsh reality of life.
We loose out loved ones, we feel unloved and unnecessary.
But people live with the hope that they will someday reach the promised land of God, where there is Paradise.

Man's governments and religions are bringing themselves to an end. We already see the increase in disease epidemics, which could wipe out all of mankind. We see the defilement of the earth, the food supply, and the livestock. Mad Cow Disease alone could wipe out mankind and all animal life as well. You will see how serious it is before this year is over. Watch the growth of these events.
What we call natural disasters are caused actually caused by mankind and are growing. You will see the worst of them this year, 2007. You will also see the worst wars. The nuclear baby, conceived September 12, 2006, will be born June 12, 2007. The birth pains will be experienced along the way and then nuclear wars will kill a third part of men over a fourth part of the earth. Yet, the world's governments and religions of and by the people will not repent, said the Savior in:
Revelation 9:20-21—
20 And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues, still did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and gods (elohim, teraphim) of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk;
21 Neither did they repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
Those who will repent and come out from among these religions, as the Savior shows, will be protected.
Revelation 18:1-5, 8—
1 And after these things I saw another malak come down from heaven, having great authority; and the earth was enlightened with His glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying: Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of demons, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying: Come out of her, My people, so that you do not partake in her sins, and so that you do not receive of her plagues,
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and Yahweh has remembered her iniquities!
8 Therefore, her plagues will come in one day—death, and mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire; for strong is Father Yahweh Who judges her.
Notice the word sins. Remember, sin is the breaking of Yahweh's Laws, including the Holy Sabbath Laws. The world will not repent, but you can. You can join those who are repenting now and you will be protected.

Yes, the end of this system of world-wide wickedness is surely coming and there is going to be a happy restoration, where every survivor will be living at peace with each other.

yeah seems like it, perhaps they want the glories that heaven offers and they are tired with the awful world, let's face facts..there is a lot of crime, sorrow, disease, poverty, and so forth in the world, it can be depressing. Look at what happened at VT this world is screwed up and it isn't getting any better. It's a world where you have to afraid to leave your house, send your kids to school, and so forth. I fear just sending my children to school, cause who knows maybe their school will the next to have a psycho child who's parents kept a gun accessible, who will end up killing a bunch of innocent children

Heaven will be better. THE BEST actually, but it is selfish to say you want the end of the world to come so you can go to heaven. The only reason we aren't there yet is because we still have work to do here. We have more saving to do!
