+ Pope Benedict XVI +
Pope Benedict XVI was drafted into the Hitler Youth and the Nazi German Army just like every other non-Jewish German male. He was not given a choice.
The Pope is not and never has been a Nazi. He unfortunately was born and grew up in a country ruled by the Nazi party.
Every draftee into the Hitler Youth and the Nazi German Army was not a Nazi.
Just hope and pray that you do not have to make a decision to be executed or live and fight for a government in which you do not believe.
Thank God that you and I live in a very different world that the Pope did in 1930s and 1940s Germany. Or do we?
+ Adolf Hitler +
Although Adplf Hitler was raised in a Catholic family, he left the Church early in life.
Automatic excommunication happens when Catholics commit certain offensives. This happens as soon as the offense is committed.
Adolf Hitler committed the following offenses resulting in automatic excommunication:
- Apostasy - the formal renunciation of one's religion. Hitler specifically rejected the Catholic Church, as well as Christianity in general. He described himself as "a complete pagan.”
- Heresy - a doctrine in theology, religion, philosophy, or politics at variance with those of the Catholic Church. Nazism is definitely heretical to Christianity.
There was no reason for the Catholic Church to excommunicate Hitler. He did it all by himself.
+ With love in Christ.

Actually, Hilter was part Jewish. Once everyone apologized for every wrong that was ever committed, what will that accomplish except increasing revenue for trial lawyers?

You are correct. Which is one of my BIG peeves against that institution. When your religion is found to be in tremendous error, you should do whatever you can to make it right. Set an example for others to follow. But what are they doing now? Are they supporting Israel's right to exist, or working against it? Why not give the "Christian" section of Jerusalem back to the Jews? There are many things they can do as an act of penance for their error. I wouldn't hold my breath.

The catholics, specifically the early church, are to blame for Christianity and all it stands for. They have a lot to apologize for.
