Have you ever noticed that painting of God up in the cloud reaching out to touch fingers with the man below? Well, in that painting God is really stretching out, trying to reach, the man is all kicked back relaxing, he does have his finger stretched out a bit, but that's it. Anyway, that painting always makes me think. Another question, is there anywhere online I can view all of the paintings there? I have looked and looked. I did find a place with a virtual tour, it sucks. Do I actually have to go there to see the paintings and the rest of it?

Thank you Jennifer, unfortunately that was the site with the bad virtual tour.
Sheol, I love christmas, it's my favorite time of year. when I was young I kept a christmas tree in my room all year. I still listen to christmas songs off and on all year. Weird though cuz I'm not christian. It's just always been my happiest time of year. Everyone seems nicer. It's comfy.

Regius, I would be interested in hearing about that class you took last year.
From the first time I saw this painting when I was young I have been thinking about this. After the da vinci code I have been wanting to see the other paintings.

Anyone who wants to see some good high quality close up pictures of it, the wikipedia site sheol pasted is fantastic. Seriously, I spent hours one day looking for good pictures. I always hear bad things about wikipedia-weird. And what is up with all the naked people and cherubs. Cherubs look like children. This is very strange.

Lucie, that's an odd poem. Can't imagine how much pain painting this thing must have been for this guy. Amazing. I was in pain just painting a small kitchen ceiling, and not being artistic at all. Amazing.

The other site Phoenix posted also has wonderful pictures. Large and clear. Thank you all so very very much. I must say, every single time I post a question I cringe when going to read the answers. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. This was great. I love you all. Have a great weekend.

Same t- yes, the artistry is amazing. It really boggles my mind. How was he able to do all of this? It's kind of scary. I would love to see it one day. I don't believe in big, fancy, expensive places of worship. But I would love to see the artwork.

The Conversion of Saul and The Crucifixion of St. Peter each within the Cappella Paolina, Vatican Palace, Rome. Although Michaelangelo used to be the architect for the Medici Chapel it does no longer incorporate painted works.

I've actually visited the Sistine Chapel, and you're not actually allowed to take pictures there, so you may not find many pictures online except from official sites. That painting you're talking about, the one where God is reaching out to Adam (who has a belly button, btw). You really should see the chapel in person, its an amazing work of art.

Actually the man God is touching is supposed to be Adam. And he's not relaxed, he's lifeless. If you really look into 'adam's' eyes, he's lifeless, it's before the time god touches him and gives him life, a persona. If you believe any of that anywa, beautiful sentiment and caputured perfectly in the painting. I would reccomend seeing the 'cistene' chapel for yourself, even as an atheist, i'm an artist, and can appreciate something like that.

Marvelous point about the stretching finger of God. This subject came up in an argumentation class I took last summer and it was pointed out that most paintings of that day had a very definite message they were trying to convey.
Bully for noticing!
As for the second half of the question, I'm afraid I'm of no help at all... sorry!

Not good pictures, but there's a poem on the page called, "What Michelangelo Thought". I like it.
